Calvinism Destroyed? - Common objections addressed | Dr. James White

How many modern Evangelicals or Independent Baptists have beliefs identical to those displayed by Greg Boyd here? How many, listening to this argumentation, would even realize this man is an open theist, especially if they themselves (unknowingly) use the same argumentation in dealing with Reformed Theology? Please, listen carefully and think about it.

Ask yourself: Do I hold the same beliefs? Where did I learn them (and in response to what)? How well have I worked through them?

With any belief you hold, you have to think through to see which logical conclusion does it lead to. Don't simplify things and repeat slogans and cute sayings to come to quick responses to challenging issues. Don't rely on emotional reaction. Learn to think deeper than that, learn to think in categories, and then make proper connections. Otherwise, you will end up in error and inconsistency.

Thank God we are exegetical preachers. You can't deal deeply with the text unless you are preaching verse by verse. When you jump around in the Bible you can make it say whatever you want.

Yeah I remember Voddie Baucham saying something along the lines of "either you serve a God who is sovereign over the universe or you serve a God who somehow misses things or is powerless to stop evil."

According to Arminianism, God knows beforhand who are going to believe. Because of his knowing this it is certainly going to happen. If this is the can then why evangeize? They end up in same place as Calvinists. It is interesting that the greatest evangelists have been Calvinists!

I find it interesting that many people are lined up, all ready to disprove Calvinistic doctrines.

I used to think God loves everybody until I read my bible. Romans 9:13: As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

As someone who likes to build models, hearing someone like Dr. White say he did as kid is so great! Great video! As someone who is trying to learn more about Calvinism as someone who is not necessarily a Calvinist but wants to know what is properly, White has been a great teacher

I have been a Calvinist since before I ever heard of John Calvin. Arminianism cannot submit to Scripture, rather they judge God by their own standards. They faith to provide sound exegesis of the text.

This is a problem when you don't really studied the scriptures the way it should be. I learned more about His sovereignty during the covid.

“They believe most people are predestined to go to hell.”

Wrong. No consistent, orthodox Calvinist holds this position. We don’t know the identity or number of the Elect. It’s an emotional appeal strawman argument.

Oh I love this brother. 🤣

If you listen closely and discerningly you'll see that what James says, is true. If God wants to save someone. He WILL. He is GOD ALMIGHTY. Creator of all. He moves hearts, regenerates whom he wills to walk in his statues. If he does that. He can save whom he wills. The thing is.... He doesn't. Not all. Just whom he has chosen.

So the Egyptians and Assyrians experienced the same grace as Israel. I must've missed that part.

I like to think that I have free will but I think that without God’s grace I can’t possibly have the capability to Love Him back since all good comes from Him. I think scripture states that capability through grace is extended to everyone but each individual has the ability to reject it. I don’t know if this makes sense

YeH, okay. If God dies for EVERY SINGLE PERSON, and wishes all to come to the revelation-knowledge of who He is, we would be here on earth for eternity. He would never return.
But He wishes for ALL OF THE ELECT TO COME TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF WHO HE IS.

Are babies born in a state of sin, if yes how are they saved since they cannot profess with their mouth? If no, then does God preserve them from the sin of Adam thus setting up biblical contradiction?
