In this Budget Nerd video, we will talk about accessing your computer from the internet, or anywhere. There are several ways to go about this. I've been out of scope about this for a few years and needed a refresher because I'm coding a home server and forgot how to port forward out of my home! This was straight to the point and clear, can't wait to see if I did everything correctly now lol

Port forwarding opens a back door to your home network. Its not secure. Use a vpn instead.

great vid, very clear and easy to follow but maybe highlighting the dangers of opening up without a VPN would be a good 'ending' to at least warn people of the dangers, if they follow the video content as is then a final piece about vpns surely wouldnt blow minds

This is good, but what if you don't have a public IP? Most of the ISPs no longer provide public IP as it becoming scarce and uses CGNAT instead. Port forwarding do not work in this case. Do you have a workaround for this situation?

One thing a lot of these videos fail to mention, due to forgetting or changes with IPS, is that you need to have a static IP for portfowarding to work, and you need to do that through your IPS with an extra charge to your bill. I also THINK you need to have some ports opened through your router which the IPS also does but im not 100% sure on that 1
