It's so true! I had very love self-esteem when I was little. I liked one guy in our school and he knew it but he liked another girl. And one day, our teacher called pairs, girl and boy. And we had to say something about each other that is true, doesn't matter if is it good or bad. My classmates said different things about each other, good and bad. And suddenly, our teacher called me and that guy. No one knew I liked him. It was just random action. And in front of the class, of 30 teenagers, he said that I am very beautiful, clever, and funny. Beautiful... No one laughed or made any comments. It was like something quite obvious. I was 13. It changed my internal world forever. I'm 44 now. And I still remember that day, that guy, every single word, and my reaction.

As a 23 year old woman who’s never been in a relationship and had zero experience with men, these videos are VERY helpful on how to be a genuine person with integrity

If you tell a guy that he is very attractive and he thinks he is a geek... He will love you forever.. Tell a guy who has to much ego he is attractive you get nothing in return

Who is here after 5 years😂😂😂

I love Matt's examples. They are so real and practical he makes everything easy to understand and apply.

When we were young, we did this. Compliment someone to a third party. It’s because we don’t have the confidence to say it to their face.
My ex was not generous at compliments. Even when he did, they were backhanded. So I’ve learned to compliment people without a moment’s hesitation. It creates such an uplifting feeling for everyone. Life is beautiful when we make each other feel good.

Sometimes I'm afraid to give people compliments. Because I don't want them to think that it means more than it does. Like just because I say someone is handsome does not mean that I'm interested in having any type of relationship beyond friendship.

this is so true.. it's such a great feeling when someone says things about your character rather than your looks. i'd rather be told i'm funny than that i'm attractive because it shows that's not the only thing they see you as.

I soooo agree on this. I used to tell my bf, "Pa, you're so handsome" And he would just laugh. But everytime I complimented him about something deep, he would literally pause for a moment and then said, "Thank you, I love you" with sparkling look in his eyes.

I love this! It makes me think of what you say in your book "Get the Guy":
"It's fun to make someone smile by offering a compliment, or asking their advice, or displaying interest in a book they might be reading. People, no matter who they are, feel good about themselves when someone notices them."

I found out what my boyfriend's love language is and was surprised to realize that I had been doing it the whole time we'd been together. His is words of affirmation and I always tell him how proud of him I am and how great he is at things that he excels at in life. It has taken our relationship to such a deeper level of commitment and connection. I couldn't imagine a more perfect man for me.

For all the women saying Matthew is the perfect man, remember there's no such thing. He is human and I'm sure he has many flaws. He's found a nice way to make a living and he goes with that but u don't see what goes on when the camera is off. I'm sure he's a great man, but no one is perfect.. However for each and every one there is someone who is perfect FOR YOU!

When I was 10 years old a couple on an airplane kept staring at me, and then told my mom right in front of me that I was beautiful and should be in modeling. Never in my life had anyone said that about me. I thought I was ugly and very plain. Now I make sure to always find things to compliment people about. It sure made a difference in my life because I had no self esteem whatsoever.

I took your advice and used it in a third date with a guy I really like tonight and it definitely worked. He referred to me as a “rare bird”. Thank you for being so helpful and honest.

I tell my boyfriend when go out for dinner or drinks etc how lucky I am that I get to take the hottest guy in the bar home. He lights up like a Christmas tree and I'm not lying most of the time!😉🎄

Compliment openly! No need to be shy. Early on in my life with great losses it has been learned we may only have so much time with someone and that one good thing, one compliment, one generous exchange of genuine truth could change the entire course of someones day. I believe it is important to give the compliment when there is an impulse to. It feels good to make others feel good about themselves too. Yet, it must always be with truth.
