Today I want to cover how to help reduce anxiety and depression. It has everything to do with your microbiome—your gut bacteria.

The largest number of nerves outside of the brain is in your gut. There is a huge communication line between your gut and your brain. What happens in the gut affects what happens in your brain.

Your gut microbes also make neurotransmitters, like GABA, dopamine, and serotonin. Serotonin can greatly affect your mood. Your gut also makes B vitamins. There is a huge connection between mood disorders and a lack of B vitamins. Also, if you have gut inflammation, that can affect your mood. So, just getting rid of inflammation can help elevate your mood.

Antidepressants can actually inhibit the growth of your friendly bacteria. There are also a lot of side effects that can accompany psychiatric drugs.

90% of serotonin is produced in the gut. SSRIs are antidepressant drugs that affect serotonin.

A few big side effects of SSRIs:
• They decrease the diversity of the microbiome
• They create an alteration in microbes
• They increase inflammation

*These side effects increase the need for SSRIs.

Crazy how I trust a YouTube Dr more then my own dr of 25+ years. As you said in one video to many drs are trained not to treat the cause but the symptoms. You sir always go for the cause. Keep up the good work!

Fasting is the key. I've been doing a lot of long term fasting and I swear it may be a panacea. It improves everything. There is weight loss, mental clarity, improved mood, calmness, self control, self possession, decreased inflammation, improved immune system, spiritual growth, gut health, and more.

Vitamin D3 n K2 has been a great weapon for depression and anxiety along with a strict sleep schedule, fasting, and extreme low carb. I hope this helps someone as much as it's done for me.

I suffer from excessive overthinking due to circumstances that happened to me previously and I could not overcome them. Perhaps they were as difficult as they were. I got sick after that and depression began to control me and I reached a stage of mental stagnation. I no longer thought about anything and I became a physically sick person. I am 25 years old in this life. Only my body exists and my soul no longer exists. I wish for myself and all people to live happily and stay away from what bothers you and toxic people. I was on medication for these issues for over 10 years. When Covid hit, I wasn't able to get to Walgreens to pick them up. I went into freak-out mode thinking that I might be so depressed that suicide would be a really harsh reality. I had already been on Keto for years. After a few weeks, I began to feel less stressed, anxious, and depressed. My medication had never really worked for me 100%. I now do not have any of those feelings in my life and was being gaslit by my behavioral provider who believed that I was lying for some reason. I had to stand my ground and say no more and got another Dr. I have been feeling great since Covid first hit.

100% true doctor. It took me 2 years but once I started fasting, quit sugar, fixing my gut issues with probiotics with Kefir(WOW! Life-changing drink), taking magnesium, cod liver oil, getting some sun, doing some exercise daily and upping my fat intake(grass-fed butter, raw milk, egg yolks), I became a different person. I come from a family of refugees with severe post-traumatic stress disorder, so some of the depression/anxiety I have is genetic, on some level. But your protocol changed my life. I would also add that changing my environment & healing my childhood traumas were essential as well.

I was on SSRI's for 25 years for severe anxiety. Since going healthy keto and IF, I've greatly improved. I no longer take SSRI's or any meds. It's been almost 16 months since I started, so it was a slow process but worth it. Side effect of getting healthy is I lost 50 lbs.

This is 100% true. There was one point when I started eating so much fastfood, aside from having so much sugar in my diet. I developed a really bad anxiety, which I knew was not normal for me. My diet duringg those times consisted mostly of chocolates, sugar and fastfood. When I started eating healthy and started taking probiotics, my anxiety got better.

I can understand concerning the gut biome, but getting what is causing the emotional symptoms out in the open helps immensely. A coping group is almost a must. The gut biome is probably more involved if you have never had "emotional damage", and you are truly experiencing these symptoms for "no reason".

I'm certain it works the other way too. Just by changing my thoughts, I am feeling, not only less depressed and anxious, but better physically as well. "Positive mental attitude" may sound cliché, but many allopathic practitioners are aware of its positive affects Vs having a negative outlook on life.

Dude I'll tell you what, I did a 2 week juice fast w/coffee enemas every other day and after the first week I was shocked at how my anxiety and feelings of despair just vanished. Before that I had done everything I could mitigating the feelings with meditation and gratitude and diet and exercise, but it wasn't until the juice/enemas that I finally got rid of the feelings and also regained my food sensitivity which has helped me to navigate what foods my body actually does/doesn't want. Mind BLOWN man.

Ancient cultures were far more aware than were are today. We are simply rediscovering what they already knew.
While it is incredible to experience the effects of food as medicine, as Mr. Berg demonstrates in his videos.
He also advocates a holistic approach which is what some of the comments below may be missing. Certainly dietary changes will help these maladies IN ADDITION to other healthy practices such as talk therapy etc. As someone who does suffer from severe depression, complex PTSD among aspects of other diagnoses and extensive struggle with addiction (I have also had gut issues since age 5 which no dr. Could aid) healing would be nearly impossible without integrated care. We are after all integrated beings and all aspects of us need nurturing.

I have anxiety and ocd. I went on keto and it’s improved by like, 90%. Now when I eat sugar or carbs on occasion I have crazy intrusive thoughts afterwards. It’s so weird! I love keto it makes me feel normal and not batshit lol 😁 I’d love to know why it works so well. This diet is more helpful than any medication I’ve taken in the past!

I’ve been on meds for 8 years for depression. Two days ago I reduced my dose in the hope of being off them in 12 to 16 months. I will very slowly reduce amount. I’ve been on keto for about 2 months & already feel ALOT better. Fasting, low carbs, colourful natural foods, more time outside is proving to be very helpful.
