I’m from El Salvador I’m glad they are locked up for good they have reigned terror on the innocent for many years.

Your human rights end the minute you end someone else's right to exist. So yeah I support bukele

Did the gangs consider human rights when they were running around doing whatever they wanted?

I'm a civil libertarian, but with the entire population being extorted and living in fear, I get why Bukele had to resort to extreme measures. I have a lot of respect for him.

I am from El Salvador, born and raised, the terror of going out and never knowing if you would make it back home every day changes your psyche, my mom even now in a different country continues to have anxieties caused by this and sadly its very much justified, the entire population suffered because of these ... prisoners, and they are getting the treatment they deserve, those who scream "human rights violations!" never called out the previous state of the country and the non criminals who were tormented by them, nor the political corruption of the presidents who helped them scam the innocent people, so if they want those prisoners to be treated like humans they can take them to their own countries and use their own resources since they care so much about them, show with actions and not words if they're so honest and so caring

No sympathy for the criminals but the innocent people wrongfully convicted who have to face the same treatment.

CECOT is not far away from civilization. It's only around 1.2 miles from Los Esparanza. Infact, there are towns much closer looking at Google Earth. I like how they have built the prison almost at the foot of San Vicente volcano. If that blows, they get the freedom of death

The population of the country seem to like this approach as they did live in fear of these gangs.

It may seem barbaric, but in comparison, it’s justice…

No matter what people feel about this, some are for and some are against this kind of enforcement/imprisonment, you have to admire the fact there's a politician who's in charge and actually making a noticeable difference in his country. A man of his word who's not just all talk. He's 100% for the people. I just hope in the future with how loose they're playing it that it isn't used as a political tool used against rival politicians. I don't mean with Bukele himself but rather the ones that succeed him. With how loose the definition of "gang member" has become I could see politicians intimidating opposing political office runners by having family members of theirs arrested and accused of being gang members. Just thinking like how it was attempted to be used against politicians in the USA accusing rivals of being communists, it became a buzz word and it left a lot of room for abuse of power. With all that aside, I have a lot of respect for Bukele and the incredible difference he's been able to make for his people. He genuinely saved his country. A close friend of mine is from El Salvador and his mom goes back there a couple times a year to visit family she said it's so much safer and happier there now. She said she hadn't felt safe visiting there in many many years and that now she can walk around feeling safe even at night which used to be a no-go. Incredible work by Bukele and the people of El Salvador for standing up to the gangs that were plaguing their beautiful country.

So happy my dad got out this country when he did 🙌🏾 he hardly talks about it but when he does it’s 90% of the time terror and horror

Maybe this will inspire others on the outside to NOT be a murderous gang member. Sorry if it hurts the feelings of those already locked up. Better to be poor and free, than locked up in a place like that.

in just 8 years, the country went from 100 murders per 100k people in 2015 to 2 murders per 100k people in 2023, with it being less than 1 now in 2024. The US is currently at 5.7 murders per 100k. It may not be humaine, but that's thousands of innocent people alive today because of this, thousands of people who will go on and build a better country, making El salvador the safest country in the world.
