I spent 11yrs in prison. Some of which was in a supermax. Guards there are a lot more respectful then on lower level prison yard and although the “yard” surrounded by four concrete walls and a skylight there are no guards near by. The lower the level of prison yards the worse the guards get. They are very disrespectful, they incite violence between you and others around you. But supermax and higher level security prison times were easier because you didn’t have someone with a badge beating you, or trying to make your life worse. Prison is meant to rehabilitate. But you don’t get that on low level prisons. I was sent to supermax for a “conspiracy” that never happened but was made up by a gang investigator who at the time was under investigation for assault on inmates.
Also It’s against prison law to attack a guard unless they first attack you.
I’m from California and the supermax here is Pelican Bay State Prison.
