Are All INFJs Considered 'Neurodivergent'? | Throughout the INFJ personality type communities, there seems to be a common argument as to whether or not there is a correlation between the INFJ type and autism.

While it may not be easy to say for sure, there are certainly some similarities making the infj neurodivergent question one to look into. So, are these two sides of the same coin? Can all INFJs be considered neurodiverse?

I learned from a young age how to survive social isolation, growing up as an outsider in a small town. Maybe being INFJ helped me with this. When I started university 35 years ago I met my best friend. We just found out this year that we are both INFJ. What a beautiful gift to have a friend who just "gets" me.

INFJ is a personality type identified by the MBTI system, which classifies individuals based on cognitive and emotional preferences. It's crucial to clarify that all personality types, like INFJ, are entirely separate from the concept of neurodivergence. Neurodivergence encompasses differences in brain structure and function and typically includes conditions like autism, ADHD, and dyslexia.
It's important to stress that personality types do not reflect neurodivergence. They pertain to cognitive and emotional preferences, whereas neurodivergent conditions involve atypical cognitive, sensory, or social processing and may require particular support and accommodations due to these distinctive cognitive functions.
It's essential to debunk the misconception that INFJ personality types, or any personality type for that matter, equate to neurodivergence. They are unrelated concepts, and it's vital to understand and acknowledge the diversity of human cognitive and emotional profiles and neurological variations.
Neurodivergent can have any personality type who is diagnosed with this condition.

I first took the Myers Briggs around 1990. INFJ totally fits me, and I've taught the test and types so I have a broad understanding.
The one type that may fit your theory is INTP.
I had many WTF moments while listening to this.

You can recognize patterns and social cues for other people and still be able to miss them completely in yourself. It’s a part of masking. You concentrate so hard on everyone else, you don’t pay attention to what you’re doing, it’s entirely possible to be INFJ and neurodivergent.

I had an experience at a bowing alley where many that were there were not upfront regarding various truths and I read it like a book. Each one I had short conversation with, I learned many truths. Especially the ones that felt bad abut the charade. My sharp perception really paid off. My faith tells me my prayer feuled that perception. I fought out of that mess by God's grace and my loyalty to him.

I'm highly sensitive. I meditate in nature tuning in with nature spirit. I get blessed with intuitive visions, epiphanies, knowings, anticipations, premonitions, and can will good luck.
I learned to get my love from nature because my parents and siblings enjoyed traumatising me.

I think INFJs and INFPs are the types that are closest or most common to have ASD and/or ADHD, thus highly likely to be neurodivergent. However, I would love to have some statistics and data if ALL INFJs and INFPs ARE neurodivergent - I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case.
I am an INFJ, HSP, have ASD, and currently trying to seek diagnosis whether I have ADHD or BPD. It's really difficult to live in a neurotypical world where masking is a necessity to navigate society. A chameleon or as they termed "high-functioning" may look amazing by outsiders but it slowly eats the person inside at the end of the day, it really takes a toll. I have a lot to say from this journey of being neurodivergent but I also love to read other people who have similar experiences.

Yes, absolutely there is a connection between neurodivergence and INFJ type. I’m INFJ married to an INTJ and all three of our children are neurodivergent/high functioning ASD and ADHD. All 3 children possess high IQs-the oldest just graduated with strait As from college-agriculture degree, the middle child achieved a perfect score on her ELA standardized exam-middle school, and the youngest had a 142 IQ when he was tested by the school team at 6 years old. The younger two kids now have IEPs and 504 accommodations to help support their sensitivities to environmental stimuli, their executive functioning deficits and their socialization needs. In finding support for their educational needs, I have learned about my own. Despite being successful in academics (I have a STEM PhD), but not so successful in other benchmarks that most of my peers and colleagues have accomplished, I have learned that I, too (and my father for that matter) have been the likely genetic contributors of these disordered social and executive processing traits. The more research I discover, the more being an INFJ woman who also has ASD makes sense to me. There also seems to be a Complex PTSD connection in the mix too, with many INFJ/ASD women having had repeated experiences of childhood trauma. I have the INFJ personality type. I share many traits with neurodivergent’s but am still very different. I am actually happy to have stumbled across this particular video because i have wondered for many years if I was on the spectrum. I have siblings with ADD, ADHD, and Asperger’s so honestly it could go either way.
