So, you have learned all sorts of worry management skills for this video series. Worry awareness training, categorizing worries, tolerating uncertainty, identifying and challenging positive beliefs about the usefulness of worry, improving problem orientation, problem solving and cognitive exposure. You may have all of the tools, but it might feel like the tools are jumbled and you’re not sure when or how to use all of the skills we’ve discussed.

In this video, I discuss a recipe and formula for effective worry management, putting together all of the skills you’ve learned so that you can better control your worries. I talk about the order in which to use the skills and specific approaches for dealing with Type 1 and Type 2 worries. By following the flow chart and worry management formula, you have a framework for better controlling excessive worry and Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

So helpful. I struggle with health anxiety and realize I have often confused HA as a Type 1 worry. But when coming to "problem solve", the worry over having this or that health problem...the problem itself doesnt exist :)

I suppose the one Type 1 worry with HA is the actual worry about having HA and how it negatively impacts my life. And in that case there are reframing and problem solving that could be done (especially now I am more resourced with information from your channel)

Thanks very much for this series, I've watched all 12 videos so far. The part I'm missing is best described in a question. In the example scenario in this video, the worry about the vacation being ruined if the weather is bad, what happens if the person gets to the vacation and the weather actually is bad? Was the goal of the cognitive exposure to stop their suffereing ahead of time and help them deal with the worst case scenario when faced with exactly what they were fearing? In other words, every type 2 worry is something that could in theory happen some day, like if you are diagnosed with cancer, during your treatment you worry that you will suffer and die. This could actually happen. Do these techniques attempt to help people better handle the bad things when they actually come true?

This is great -thank you for making this available. What is your opinion of the acceptance commitment therapy approach which is to allow worrying thoughts to "run in the background" (like a radio that has been left on) whilst living out your values?

One mistake is that people attach their self worth with their problems
