Not having the +1 luck ring from the new raid makes this feel like an incomplete test since that's the only equipment piece that comes with that stat.

I did something similar during Warlords of Draenor, but I didn't go as hard as you, I was just testing the Discarded Lucky Coin. What I did was set up a 7-tab guild bank, fill it with Card of Omens, empty it, then spam flip them using an action bar hot key. Rinse, repeat. In all, I flipped one million cards with the coin and one million cards without the coin. It took almost a year to complete. What I saw at that time was no change of consequence in "luck". I wore out the number keys of three keyboards in the doing of it, so I wouldn't recommend repeating that exercise.

There is another item you might be interested in as well. (If you don't mind farming it.) It's called 'Great Luckydo' from Maldraxxus. It's a drop that the NPC Chordy can dig up, and you loot. It requires the abomination factory. Thanks for the epic video, I loved it!!!

Very interesting video I think anyone that knows there’s “lucky” items has thought about this topic thanks for doing the work again enjoyed the watch

When an event requiring randomness happens (e.g., a loot drop, a critical hit, or a proc), the game doesn't just "roll dice." Instead, it uses a seed-based algorithm—a mathematical formula that generates seemingly random numbers based on a starting value (the seed). This means the outcome isn't truly random; it's based on deterministic calculations that follow a pattern, even if it's unpredictable to players. Even though players perceive outcomes as luck or bad RNG, every drop, crit, or miss is dictated by a formula, not true randomness.

I was caught off guard when you tested nelf flips. I couldn't stop laughing 😂😂

One of the reasons why (SOME) Diablo games were so addicting, Diablo 2 specificly is fact that you could stack a stat called Magic Find
and it does what you already think it does, it increases your chance to drop magic(rare) items more efficiently. I think Wow would be totally different game
if it also had that system in it....

I’m convinced there is a “returning player luck boost” or something.

My wife comes back to the game for a month or so every couple years. And that first month she will get mount drops left and right but as soon as they stop (after that first month) she slowly burns out and stops again.

That luck boost usually gets an extra month sub out of here. lol

Fun Fact, the green infernal mount is more rare than the Mythic one, the mythic infernal on Wowhead states its a 11% drop rate still, probably easiest mythic raid mount to get

Funny that you actualy took time to test this for us.. conclusion remains.. log your alt army and charge in and beat the boss until he submits and gives up the mounts😅. Gotten 5 mounts so far this week so i m on a roll. Ragnaross's. Guldan's hc and mythic. Shark bait. And Archimonde's mythic. Working on 2 remaining dragons from dragon soul😅

This is all fine and great and all, but as a player who has been playing for very close to 20 years, the lucky things do nothing, i also carry all of them with me at all times, and have been carrying them for a while now, the better part of a month, and i have not seen any significant drop rates. There is an addon i use to track when the mount will drop for me based on percentages. Invincible, according to the addon, will drop for me in 20 more runs. at this point, it has nothing to do with LUCK, its purely based on the employees who watch us struggle and plan our loot before we even get to the last boss.

Items that say they give you luck do absolutely nothing. Once upon a time it was a thing to get more coins in MoP, but since then it's only been used in secrets, like the felcycle. The +1 luck ring is the only one with an actual effect that makes your character always do the special jump, if they have a special jump (night elves, blood elves, void elves, vulpera, worgen)

Hard to shake the coincidence that the first mount chance you tested dropped the mount. Maybe it's just the first mount chance each week?

If you're interested in a side story about luck I suggest reading "Ringworld" by Larry Niven. Great book either way.

Blizzard needs to add a luck tertiary stat to gear at random like speed, leech etc. that actually helps with mount and pet drops.

I know Video might be 2 Months Old, but I guess it could be interesting for everyone to hear: If you get the Ring from One Armed Bandit with the +1 Luck Stat on it and you are Nightelf, Worgen and so on, you ABSOLUTLY are always usi8ng your "special Jump Animation" if equipped. I was wondering why my Worgen all of the sudden ONLY does the somersault and thought it would be a bug it pretty liked ^^ till a guildmate told me, this is cause of the Ring and the +1 Luck Stat... unequipped the Ring and all of the sudden my Worgen started to do normal jumps again ^^ So yes, at least the +Luck from this Ring DOES affect the "Special Jump Animation", but i have no clue if it is just hidden coded on this ring or if it really has to do with the Stat "Luck" at all ;)

Luck only effects the chance at which a character with a special jump animation will trigger aka bloodelf jump spin. Luck doesn't effect drop rates or anything else

Maybe luck only counts equipped.

Maybe its balanced luck, where its that much more likely to be better or worse.

Or maybe it affects spell variation or weapon damage. High chance to do the full damage vs the average.

Or maybe a bearly lethal fall damage will leave you alive with minimal hp.
