The best daw is the one your most comfortable with and have the best workflow in...end of discussion.

I feel like this question is often asked by beginners wanting some guidance in choosing a daw that could be their first jump into 'creating' their own musical expression. The dm that you referenced in the beginning very well could have been someone like that. You should have considered that before answering in the way you did. IF the question was posed by a newb, you may have confused and/or discouraged them.

Been using Sequoia for years. Some people can't even use it or wanna learn it because it's so complex, but I know it like the back of my hand.

I started off with pro tools and it was pretty confusing at first. But then you showed me everything I needed to get my podcast off the ground and do it from week to week. Thank you so much for all your help!

This may sound like a generic answer to some people but it's so true. It's all about finding what works best for you and your flow. I started out as an avid Acid Pro user, and switched to Logic Pro after taking a long break from making music.

I've always said that it's not always about the DAW..Its about the Producer, , Beatmaker, , Songwriter that's working the DAW...Basically a DAW is like a blank canvas and you are the artist., , With great quality plugins and most importantly, ,a creative imagination, , , an artist can use ANY capable DAW to create a Musical Masterpiece....
Keep doing your thing, , man, , You are a humble Giant of an inspiration for sure..Peace

I picked Reaper because it was free to use and $60 if you want a license. Plus, there’s lots of online help.

I'm learning Ableton 11 tons of awesome features, bitting off a little at a time, I'm in it for life, all daw's give you the basics of instruments, sound is only a vibration which can be turned into electric energy (samples) so I feel you on each choice is to the producer liking...George Duke made that electric keyboard (Dukey Stick) sound like electric guitar and more, go at it hard, un- afraid, break that mug down and make it do what it do ...

I started with FL Studio. Got good with it, but the workflow might not have been the best for me. I used Logic Pro for a while recently and liked everything it does. It felt like Pro Tools level production tools with FL type simplicity and the workflow seemed more up my alley.

I started using fl 6, I stopped making music and I’m back using ableton and pro tools. Pro tolls it’s a bit uncomfortable for making beats but I already can make beats in pro tools. I prefer ableton for making beats tho but i the end of the day I learned that I can do great beats in pro tools too

The best response I've heard to this question.

In my opinion, I would say Logic and Cubase are great choices.

I use Reason but two of my friends use fl studio and they swear that the sound quality is better in it than Reason. I do hear a slight thickness to their percussion that I don't hear in Reason but it may be due to the sound selection. Although I have a hard time believing that EVERY kick that they use just so happens to be fuller than mine.

A beginner should start with audacity with the thought in mind that you will eventually go into a more complex and intuitive program. it's free and very simple to get started.

Good advice.
Confirmation on my thought.
Just a songwriter.. but, stepping up to record this time.

Reason 10 I like it because that’s the first DAW software I was comfortable with also I don’t have an engineer and I find it easier on reason myself

Great Video! Thinking about getting the new Logic Pro 11 because of the great built in many midi sounds.
