About this video
In this video Zane from Audio Tech TV (formerly Simple Green Tech) looks at the some of the best free DAWs available on Windows in 2022. These free DAWs can be sued for beat making, rock music, recording entire bands, EDM, or whatever you want. Just because these are free music making programs doesn't mean that you are going to be severely limited with what you can do. Some do have a couple of limitations and some are completely unlimited. If you want to start making music and don't have money to spend on music making software, these free DAWs may be for you.
If you want more videos and tutorials on home studio recording and music production be sure to subscribe to Audio Tech TV on YouTube.

I have used Pro Tools, Reason, Cubase, Ableton, Studio One, Cake Walk, FL Studio, Reaper, and Bitwig in over 20 years of producing electronic music. I can honestly say i love by far Tracktion Waveform it literally does everything fast, powerful, and all on one screen.

The free version of Studio One is a great way to start. It does not limit the number of tracks and it doesn't impose any time limits. It has less tools than the bigger versions and it doesn't allow adding other VSTs. The key reason why I recommend it (beside the fact that Studio One a great DAW with superb workflow) is that when you decide to move up to the higher versions, you're already familiar with how it works and you don't have to learn from scratch. I began with the Artist version that comes free with a Presonus interface and eventually moved up to the Professional version when I was ready. I'm pleased with the DAW's capability and work flow and recommend i without reservation.

Great video ! Newbie here... With any of these is there a looping feature where I can record my guitar and create a loop that can be stretched?
Thanks in advance...

Another handy hint is once you're downloaded the software is to print off the list of keyboard shortcuts.

These are helpful to newer producers. So far as I know, you're the only person doing these free DAW videos. Great work agree about having more than 1 DAW. I have Ableton, FL Studio, and Cakewalk. (Still can't figure out Cakewalk) I ended up with Ableton

Do you have a video explaining how to use midi based plugins like Cthulhu or LFOTool in note trigger mode, it's hard to find a video for that

Just starting to build my home studio and I’m looking for a DAW that will help create ambient music with guitars and synths and drum tracks. Which of all these would you recommend?
