3 Types of Eye Pressure Tests
Показать описание
🧐Did you know there are 3️⃣ different ways to give an eye pressure test?
Tonometry (eye pressure testing) is a diagnostic procedure that measures the intraocular pressure (IOP) within the eye to assess the risk of glaucoma or other issues with the eye. It is commonly performed using a device called a tonometer, which can utilize various methods such as applanation, indentation, or non-contact (air puff) techniques.
1️⃣ The first one with a little white ball coming near your eye is called Electronic Indentation Applanation Tonometry. This is usually done with a handheld device where the tiny white ball touches the eye and sees how much resistance it is met with.⚪️
2️⃣The second with a blue light is called Goldmann Applanaiton Tonometry. The eye will need to be numbed for the test due to the cornea needing to be flattened for a few seconds while looking at a blue light.💡
3️⃣ The third and everyone's favorite👀 is called Non-contact Tonometry or commonly known as "The Air Puff Test." 💨 This test involves the patient staring at a hot air balloon or house and once focused a puff of air will shoot out.
