How To Measure Eye Pressure Without The Air Puff!

This is a demonstration of the ICARE Tonometer, a device that can measure intraocular eye pressure without using the dreaded puff of air!

The non-contact tonometer does a great job at screening for irregular eye pressure to test for glaucoma. There are other alternatives to measure intraocular pressure as well. Goldmann Applanation Tonometry is consider the gold standard at measure eye pressure. It does require a numbing eye drop to obtain the measurement. Another option is called the Icare Tonometer. No air or eye drops are required to get this measurement, and can be fairly reliable and accurate when done right. A lot of patients prefer this method over the others.

Cool fact: I was probably the first person in the UK to get this sort of test for pressures! Mostly because my Mum just spent allot of money on one of the first ones in the country and she needed someone to test the gadget on!

I had double retna detachment eye surgery done and im going to tell you the stuff doctors can do with eyeballs now is amazing.

While I was blind at the eye center they told me this story about a patient who got bit on the eye by a rattle snake. Two fangs puncture eyeball. They can cut your eyeball open, turn it inside out, put the fluid in a glass, stitch the holes up, scoop the venom out of the fluid, put your eye back, then pump your fluid back in your eye and after recovery you'll be fine.
Its amazing.

As someone with sensitive eyes, I get PTSD from this😂 When I went to the eye doctor to get a new prescription and I failed this portion over and over again to the point to where I was uncontrollably crying. It took 20mins and 4 different doctors to finally get the results they wanted.😭

In rare case is like mine, it actually caused me a worse problem and now I have issues with stuff coming near my eyes because I am autoimmune compromised it triggered another problem so now I cannot have that particular test done anymore. That is what my eye doctor said because of that issue.
