my question is, can you put braces on veneers to close a gap. After having the veneers for 6 years my two front teeth have developed a large space between them . When I first got them they were beautiful

Hi Doctor,

I have 2 major problems in my teeth
a) Miss Alignment (upper front teeth are facing forward)
b) More than 3 mm of gaps in between the above mentioned teeth.

I have taken advice from one local doctor and as per her suggestion, with veneers procedure there will be at least 1mm gap. And she is suggesting to go for braces as per her it will align all teeth and will reduce gap.
I'm 27 yrs old and working professional, wearing braces for 2 years does not look feasible.
Please suggest.

Please help me: So i'm a 17-year old male who has knocked out two teeth (if you were to be looking directly at my face right now the front tooth on the left and the tooth to the left of that one)
It has been nearly two years since I have had them put back in, they have grown a bit cricked. I was thinking about getting braces, but I have been told my teeth will die pretty soon. Would it be a waste of money for me to buy braces when I could just buy porcelain veneers, or should I get both?

Hey! Its Dr. Ganatra..sorry to hear this, but I really need to see your teeth. Veneers/Crowns may be an option but we need to see how healthy those teeth really are. If they are loose and there is bone loss around those teeth as indicated by xrays then braces are not a good option. If you are local come to our office and see me... make and appointment on our website- the link is in the video description above. OR email me from the address on the website above.

If you are loosing enamel from you teeth you have a few options. First ask yourself why you are loosing that enamel?? Get an electric toothbrush and brush softer, hard brushing is the number one reason people loose enamel. Second, avoid or drastically cut down beverages including phosphoric acid like colas and other carbonated beverages. The acid in them erodes the enamel. --Dr. Ganatra

Also--Here are some options to restore enamel loss. Veneer those teeth. I would only place veneers on them if the enamel loss is significant and not minor. Get a nightgaurd if you are loosing the enamel due to clenching or grinding in your sleep. And lastly use a non abrasive toothpaste without particles that over scrub your teeth. Also avoid baking soda in your toothpaste. Hope this helps. Dr. Ganatra
