So I was going to get SDC aligners tomorrow, but I researched the reddit forums for sincere reviews...it's all mostly negative stuff they say. I post this comment cuz my dad told me to really investigate this before I give them my money. The truth is that it is a heck of a lot cheaper but the reality is that it is not for moderate to severe cases, it is for minor cases where a few teeth are out of alignment and the treatment is pretty much common sense. So yeah, I am just going to spend the extra money on invisalign treatment through my dentist. Ya know, I really wish the dental community would ease up on the pricing of dental procedures, particularly orthodontic treatment. This is literally going to cost me what my car costs man. See if prices were more reasonable people would not resort to risky treatments like SDC. Like dude yall are just as big a part of the problem as the aligner companies...bring down your effin prices.

I looked into this extensively and finally took the plunge to do Invisalign at my dentist/orthodontist office. I will not risk looking my teeth to save a few bucks, thank you Whitney for reassuring my choice! I should be getting my first set of trays this month, can’t wait!!! 🎉😁

Feeling bad for all the naive people who fell for the Smile Direct Club scam and now the company filed for bankruptcy and left all its customers hanging. Imagine going to a dentist to get the treatment you already paid for and you find the dentist's office has shut down. That doesn't happen, does it? But with at-home aligners, now we know that can happen.

I'm glad I found your video. I've been looking at a few at home aligner websites and nowhere they mention the risks

As a dentist its really hard to fix what these horrible unscientific aligners ruin. We had a 36yr old lady with massive generalised root resorption.. Saving what could be, removing what couldnt, the replacement of missing teeth.. These additional stuff resulted in a much more bigger bill than a regular orthodontic treatment. The only time these aligners work is when you have minimal crowding.. Like a lot of people want to look like the models in toothpaste ads, with perfectly aligned teeth; when theirs is only slightly pushed a bit here and there. But in most cases.. like skeletal malocclussion, collapsed arches etc.. This is so dangerous. People getting so mad at dentists who try to warn you about aligners.. Be prepared to pay thrice the cost in the future.

I have invisalign ❤ My hygienist told me one of her friends did SDC and he was having problems. He tried to call, and no one ever picked up. My hygienist said she couldn't even help because of the route he went. It's very sad 😔 I go to my orthodontist maybe every 2 months if not every month to get my teeth looked at. I've been in treatment since December 2021, I believe 😊

I had a complex Invisalign case that involved a series of different rubber band configurations, IPR (filing the sides of some teeth) and new sets of trays over 2+ years of treatment to deal with my cross-bite and other malocclusions.

There is no way at home aligners would have been safe or effective for a case like mine - and my teeth didn’t even look that bad at the start. I was very tempted to try SDC and I’m so happy that I didn’t.

Smile direct club and other teledental services probably won’t last very long as more and more botched cases end up in the news.

I feel like dental professionals said the same about at home whitening when they first came for at home use... $6k vs $2k... Ummm.. I'll take may chances with at home!

Thank you. I will go to my dentist, based on your good advice, for a minor, straightening adjustment. It's not worth it, to risk losing my dental health. Although you seem very knowledgeable and experienced, please explain how you can perform dental work without any arms. Cheers!

I feel like if you already had braces and just never wore your retainer. These at home kits are good bc it's a small fix. But if you never had them and need a big change you prob want the professional option.

Honestly most dentist don’t do they their job and really check everything. They just want you to go fast

I bought “at home” aligner kit from Threapie Clinic and when my molds didn’t work, they wouldn’t refund me and honestly I was so annoyed at myself for wasting money on this.Thankfully I didn’t go through with it and I am with a pro orthodontist now which I’m awaiting my Invisalign with.

My dentist wants to charge my nearly $6000 for a non Invasalign option. SDC wants $2000, but only to move the first 6 teeth top and bottom. But I'll probably have to get braces (again) to move my back teeth as I clench my teeth and need better alignment for my back teeth.

I straightened my teeth with invisaline 10 years ago. I did not like the end result and it was super expensive. A few years later I corrected the imperfection with Smile Direct. My experience was good with Smile Direct and the price was less than half. I didn't think of the potential loose teeth issues in the future. 😮

I used SDC and it took wayyy long than it was suppose to take (1.5 years) and I did feel like one of my front teeth was going to fall out at one point and Ingot super scared but it eventually went away

Yes thank you ! I bought smile direct club. And they just filed for bankruptcy!!! So now I’m scared to use them. Got the whole smile direct club box, teeth whitening, movemints, cleaning tablets, and 7 months of aligners. What do I do?!!
