The cheap Method Feeders available on EBay or Amazon are the only ones I use. They last a couple or three years. Put the pack bait in, then only the hook goes into the mixture with the phony corn exposed. Cast it out, attach a little alarm bell to the rod tip, straighten the line. Most of the time I don't need a bait runner reel or a conventional reel with a clicker because the method feeder acts like a "bolt rig", i.e, the carp hooks itself when it bolts. I do use a clicker reels and bait runner reels when sitting some distance away from the set up so I know a carp (or catfish) has hooked itself. I fish the Chesapeake Bay where carp are comparatively easy to catch. In my opinion, one does not have to mimic the Europeans by choosing exotic tackle. Ugly Sticks, spinning reels, twenty to thirty pound test braided line will do the trick.
