When they choreographed the Vader/Luke fight in ROTJ, there was no moment when Luke did not have the advantage. In the novelization, Vader becomes afraid not only of Luke's raw power, but of Luke's speed which is beyond his own. The original salvo of blows was edited out of the movie because Lucas/Marquand considered it to be too vicious, and made the fight's conclusion too obvious.

The key difference between Vader and Luke was not necessarily Dark/Light, but Vader's self-hate v. Luke's intuitive and forgiving relationship with life. Watch all of the Lucas movies. There are scenes when both apologize for things they have done, or attempt to empathize with people who are suffering. Anakin always seems to be insincere (except with his mother), while Luke seems genuine. The novelization even hints that the moment Anakin returned was when Luke didn't kill him. When Vader seizes the Emperor, there is text that he had been gathering his strength and waiting for the right moment to intervene. This was all due to a final lesson which Luke taught him. Accept things, and move on. It's never too late to make the right choice. Until that point, Vader was just compounding the mistakes he had made when he turned...

Hmm... Luke being castrated must have been a deleted scene.

You just reaffirmed why lukes second saber is so important and unique in the story of the orginal trilogy. It is symbolic of the journey from boy to man and the tranformation of Luke into his own person.

"castrated" I don't think that means what you think it does...

Legends Like DID reach his full potential, becoming twice as powerful as the Emperor and being the most potent Jedi in history.

Man I was 6 when jedi came out and I still remember the cheers when he ignited the green saber

But the Disney Sequels are just bad fan fiction written by people who weren't fans.

I was five years old in 1983 when ROTJ hit theaters. Some pictures in some books I had showed Luke's saber as blue. When Luke ignited his saber on the skiff, revealing a green blade, that was a another level of coolness at the time.

The Disney sequels are not cannon in the minds of millions. Count me one of them.

I don't consider Disney crap canon and no true fan does either.

There’s also a scene that was cut when Vader is looking for Luke after knocking him down from the platform he finds Luke’s saber cuz he dropped and when he’s tempting him about turning leia to the darkside he’s holding Luke’s lightsaber while his lightsaber is on his waist when looks yells at him he force grabs his lightsaber from vaders grip

Luke got castrated? 😮 I missed that part.

Kind of demonstrates lukes lack of formal training with all the irratic swings. He is fighting based on instincts and emotions. Almost like sometimes when you button mash in a game, it throws off the "better" opponent because theyre not used to dealing with the movements.

I definitely prefer the more distant angle of the deleted scene to the closer shot that's in the film, as the farther perspective makes the duel clearer. However, the sequence doesn't seem to be entirely successful, at least in this take, as there are moments when Luke is merely stopping his sword for no reason without Vader blocking it. They're not matching movements.. The choreography definitely got much tighter by the time of Phantom Menace.

you're right about Luke in the sequels...he should have been the badass that we know from the books and such.
Luke was definitely stronger, because he did not fall prey to the Darkside temptation. Not until Mara Jade was killed, anyway
And the suit inhibited Vader's speed, really

2:13 that’s a miss use of the word castrated, I think what you mean to say is dismemberment, maim, amputate, anatomize, mutilate, disjoint, dismount, or sever.
