I have had hip problems FOR (while running) I even had to do some walking in my MARATHON because the pain got so bad. Garmin lets me know what my stride length was... and boy was I shocked.... to find out my stride length running my fastest run time... was 3.97 FEET. No wonder I have hip problems... ''putting on the break'' is probably the best way to describe it. I've been working on cadence and tryin to work on picking up my feet faster.. I can feel my stride shortening.. sure enough... focusing on my cadence alone.. my stride is now... 2.89 feet. WOW what a difference! I've got a lot of things to work on!!! I'm shooka shocked!! Great video!

I believe past injuries muscular imbalance and poor core activation causes these issues. I've actually had these issues. Makes the difference between me running a 4.4 or a 4.2 40yard dash.

key point - the foot has to remain on the ground the least amount possible.

There is a difference between foot placement (Braking vs Propulsion) and length. You are describing foot contact, however you could still have good foot placement but lack power, lack stiffness or not have the right ratio of horizontal to vertical forces. correct step length is an anthropometric value which differs across various sports.

Great content. Is that stride only for sprinter or marathoner as well sir?

I believe longer enough stride x cadence = speed

Cadence may measure the distance coz its virtually impossible to see if you land under the hip while running unless you videotape.

I'm black I once observed a white boy, beat every black guy on the track. And he was basically just jumping 🦘 into another jump, into another jump. He was basically exaggerating his stride.

Is video recording yourself sprinting the only way to determine this?
