Running Technique | Developing a Long Stride & Fast Cadence

Learn to run faster and more efficiently by developing a long stride and a fast cadence. While seemingly contradictory, you can have both if your stride is long behind rather than in front of you. A common mistake many runners make is trying to increase their stride length by reaching out and over-striding.
Not only does over-striding slow you down but it can lead to injuries that are often associated with an aggressive heel strike. In this video, Jason also addresses how to identify if you have an aggressive heel strike and provides some tips on how to fix it.

Hi. Unfortunately hip flexion is leg moving forward/knee towards chest. Hip Extension is leg behind. Hence why your ‘hip flexors’ are located at the top/front of your legs! Also flection is not a great spelling of flexion! Big strong glutes (butt muscles) & hamstrings are responsible for good hip EXTENSION. Hope that helps✌🏼😁🤓

Wow, what a wonderful explanation. Thank you. Question if you have time. I just broke a 7 minute mile. I'm having a tough time improving my time now. My cadence appears to be know. Averaging about 150ish per min. Should a runner first work on higher cadence before trying to lengthen the stride? Thank you.

Visuals are really necessary to “show” how this is done rather than just “tell” through words.
