Truth: A footballer that I had a crush on for a few years invited me to a D&D game back in 1984. Didn't marry him, but married one of the other players and been together 35+ years.

Way back at the beginning of high school I was getting picked on by most of the football team, American football, not soccer, and one day the quarterback came up to me. I figured I was going to get harassed, but he asked me if I played D&D. I told him, yeah I played. He then asked me if I would teach him how to play! I was like 'Sure!' He joined the after school D&D group and suddenly my bullying went away. It was great until the summer break when I moved away.

When I started, a bunch of kids in my Latin class were going to get together and play during lunch. I had heard of D&D and thought it was cool in concept, but I had thought because it was like a live action video game, I would suck at it, since I suck at video games. They told me to research it over spring break, then we'd play when we got back.

Yeah that was 2020. They got me hooked enough right before I couldn't play.
