Sounds like my old leader. I live in Canada now which is a whole different dimension compared to where I was raised. I didn’t realize but my friends like to tell me I was in a cult. It’s hard to see it that way because these were my family. The things that go on behind closed doors have led me to open doors that have created the strong resilient person I am today.
I grew up off grid in the Middle East in a village of 60 families and one religious leader. I moved more times than I can remember and often. We had no tv or media on our mountains. We lived off the land and protected ourselves. I was born into this community so I didn’t know other religions or races really existed, except for the one Russian and Chinese man who raised me (it’s a long story) I had a South African woman who was my second mother figure but most of those people disappeared or died.
Trying to catch up but always skipping ahead.
I feel I see the world in a much more clear way because of the personalities I was faced with.
I was good because they were normal to me, so I never had to change myself (hard to explain) There was good people who were lost but mostly bad people who did good things.
I was a lost child sometimes doing bad things..who was really good. I was doing things to be good but those things were bad yet they made me believe that it was a rose but really it was a thorn.

When I would attend church (I’m from south Texas and tried attending many) this is all I would notice. So i stopped going. I have close friends who are very religious and I don’t joke about or talk badly about my experiences.

All sociopaths are extreme narcissists. Not all narcissists are extreme nor sociopathic. It’s on a continuum. ☺️

It's crazy to me so many people get pulled into cults. If I even get a hint of "culty" I back away slowly and then run.

Sounds like my last 3 supervisors 🤔 Same agency with pretty average attrition. But we always seem to hire the same kind of people for leadership roles.
