Ed recently tried the Armor Shield IX DIY Kit on his Porsche and was impressed.

He also very shrewdly negotiated $25 off.

I enjoy hearing his business calculations. He’s a very smart dude. Even if something bites him, he moves forward.

Most reliable high performance cars: Porsche 911, Acura NSX, Audi R8. Not sure why he didn't mention the last two.

Get a used 2002 civic, add some stickers for more HP, add a park bench on the back and boom... fast reliable and will last you a life time. yw

$4, 000 for stock cast iron manifolds, you could buy the nicest TIG welder in the world and chromoly tubing, teach yourself to weld a bit then make a way better system yourself. Or pay somebody else.

Damn good advice Rob. My 2005 Porsche 987S had over 200, 000 miles before it had trouble. Very easy to DIY and decent aftermarket deals.

Cars are made to be driven anyways. Put miles on these machines! Explore the world and do it in fashion if you're one of the lucky ones that is able to afford something so exotic and unique.

Extremely good point on over servicing. If a car is not driven often then it makes sense because it’s not great for a timing belt to stay in the same spot for months under high tension but that is really not a manufacturers issue, more of a lack of use issue in a high strung motor. Exotic manufacturers know buyers don’t drive their cars as much as a Honda daily driver will so they have more frequent service intervals.

I can almost hear Ed laughing when Mr Spaghetti admited that he bought a 2nd! 12C!

I call him Robby the ferret. It sounds like a Jersey mobster name.

Great insight. I especially agree with the maintenance portion closer to the end.

Thanks for sharing.

My coworker has a Volvo that requires timing belt changes.
Her father, whom she trusts with all her auto maintenance questions, says timing belts last the lifetime of the engine.
He claims it is just a way for the dealer to make money.
