As I was a taxi driver for 40 years 30 hrs private hire & 10 yrs black cabs all my cabs lasted over 300k miles.the main reason for this is two fold.number one constant hot engines don’t wear.number two you must change oil & filter every 5k miles.as for the build quality of bodywork on individual vehicles could be a very different matter.

First Mondeo st tdci I had did 225k and I nailed it everywhere but I serviced it very regularly. Quick comfortable work horse for no money and broke hearts of many 320s at the lights so yes he's correct. As long as you service them but sadly most people don't

My Volvo S60 Diesel from 2011 just passed 210k and still going strong 😎 I changed the alternator once and pretty much that's it other than timing belt, brakes, oil, battery and tyres.

Interesting list. My family have driven Mazdas for 50 years. Absolutely bullet proof...especially the 323's and 626's.

Just hit 180, 000km in my 2016 Ford Galaxy which is built on the Mondeo platform. Must say I fuckin love it. So much room for the family and crap in the enormous boot and does 40’ish mpg.
Water pump and timing belt just done, serviced the auto box last week and serviced regularly in general.
I’m really hoping it’ll get to 250, 000km. I do about 15, 000 per year so I’ll be there in about 5 years.
In the three years I’ve owned it so far it’s been absolutely bulletproof, just regularly servicing needed and I chose to service the auto box just in case it had never been done.

For me the Toyota Prius 2010-2016 models (I am not a cabbie but LOVE them in white still looks cool)
The Technology in this cars is crazy and with normal driving CRAZY amount of MPG....hands the winner plus it will never break down..

I bought a 2001 Passat TDi PD 130 Estate for £160 about 8 years ago. Hit 575k miles last year but took it off the road for some new subframe bushes and rear axle bushes

I'm just about to pass 100, 000 miles in my 1L Toyota Aygo... Still running as well as the day I bought it with 10, 000 miles and has a rust free chassis. I did put a layer of waxoyl underbody seal on though to hopefully prevent any starting and I service the car every 5, 000 miles it's due it's first coolant change this year (100k/10 years). The most I've ever seen on an Aygo is 256, 000 miles.

I agree about the skoda but Absolutely no way would a Ford Mondeo last 500k miles A mk5 especially! Nor would a Vauxhall Astra.

My 2005 Civic has 147k on it. Currently at a gearbox specialist having a gearbox rebuild due to the dreaded input shaft bearing issue other than that it still looks and drives like a new car and everything electrical still works.

My 1999 Nissan Maxima 3 litre V6 is poor on MPG round town but is very economical on the open road. It has 257, 000km on the clock and I have had a new radiator, starter motor (after market) and a new alternator spread over the 17 years I have owned it. As the second owner I have put 157, 000 on the clock, and it still does 33+ MPG even with the aircon going on long trips. I use the recommended 95 octane, and service it religiously. It has failed its WoF (six monthly) twice, I damaged a rear light cluster, and the drivers seat belt needed replacing. It is a great car on the open road. My previous vehicle was a 2 litre Nissan Widetrack Bluebird, also a very reliable car and very economical five speed manual.

Having owned a number of Mondeos all high milers I can confirm that I agree with your finding. In fact a couple of years ago a Taxi driver did over 1 million miles in one.

My old Mercedes C240 was working fine and just a few miles short of 300, 000 miles when I swapped it for an E320 diesel. That’s now got 168, 000 on the clock and I’m planning on keeping it for another 150, 000 at least. Both cars very reliable, but I’ve always stuck to regular servicing at the recommended times, and if anything needed fixing, I got it fixed straight away.

Our newest car is a skoda octavia. We bought it with £150k miles on the clock. But it's been well very maintained 😊
