Someone who says 100, 000 miles is long lasting can't be taken seriously

3 Reliable engines and 7 cool engines. Not including things like the Ford 300 or the Buick 3800 on a list like this is criminal.

I once owned a 94' F-150, with a 4.9 L inline 6. It was a straight up 5 speed manual work truck. After 13 years the engine was still rock solid, with the rest of the truck falling apart around it. Guys were getting 4-500K out of them. Needless to say they quit producing them.

The LS family of GM V8s have legendary reliability.

150-200K miles isn't very impressive

Are you serious? 100K miles before falling apart is “reliable?”

That standard is so low practically every engine built since 1940 meets it.

CHRYSLER "SLANT SIX", the "Leaning Tower Of Power". Manu of these are still powering cars and trucks after 60 years. Some are even drag racing.

The claim that these engines mentioned can easily hit 100-150k is really not a big claim at all. I’ve owned many American cars that were ultra reliable with well over 200k miles. My jeep Cherokee with its 4.0 had 275k when i sold it. Ran perfect!

Who else stopped watching after this guy tried to say the Mazda Rotory engine is reliable?

My first car was a 1993 Mercedes-Benz 300D with only 18, 000 miles on it. I actually still have it even though its not my daily driver now nor has it been for maybe 19-20 years. But man that car has been ALL OVER the US. Its seen every state but Hawaii. I'll be giving it to my son for his 16th birthday (its just so damned reliable) Its had no major repairs just basic maintainance oil, rotation fluid flush and so on that you have to do so you can keep your car in best shape as possible :) its got 410, 587 (looked it it before I typed it) miles on it. You'd just never known that hearing it, or looking at it. I repainted it at 380, 000 always kept the interior spotless. Leather properly moisturized what carpet that it has vacuumed and 2 times a year steam cleaned. More or less it looks just like the day I got it. Sounds just as good too. I also completely took it apart and did a sonic clean on eveey single metal component very recently as sons 16th bay is now only 6 months away. Realistically I didn't need to do that, I just want it to have every conceivable advantage when giving it to my son and who knows. Maybe he'll give it to his son. As at this moment the car actually looks brand new. No engine buildup perfect interior right down to the radio with tends to have the buttons rubbed away a fair bit. Not a single scratch exterior not even on the rims. Brand new tires and service records from the day I bought it until this day as proof of the care I take of her.

The most mileage I've gotten from an engine, so far, was on my 5.8 liter Ford V8 at 326, 000+. I stopped driving it due to gas prices. I'm sure it could have gone to 400, 000 easy.
I also had a 302ci Ford that saw 4 different cars.

Camry, "can easily see 150 to 200 thousand miles." uh, EVERY car I've owned has seen at least 150, 000. To me, a car with 75, 000 miles is brand new.

Lemme get this straight; a Mazda rotary engine is on the “most reliable” list and the 5.9L Cummins is not. Wow. This is pure trash

B18 Volvo engine with timing gears would run forever. And the Toyota engine in their first van was stellar.

I would say that around 300, 000 miles is the starting line of impressive mileage, if a vehicles engine couldn’t last 100, 000 miles than something’s wrong

Whoever researched this has never seen an engine. This hurt me.

Audi 2.5 TDI (5-cylinder). This is up there for being the most reliable diesel engine. Also its VW sibling, the 1.9 TDI (pre-PD) is known for its incredible reliability.
Both of these are known for their extreme reliability, and ability to rack up some serious mileage. 500, 000 km (310, 000 miles) is not uncommon, and 1 million km (620, 000 miles) is completely within reason for these.
Engine codes: AEL (2.5 TDI - 140HP), Volvo D5252T (same as the AEL), AFN (1.9 TDI - 110HP), 1Z (1.9 TDI - 90HP)
