HP printer could not connect to web services error

If you have an HP printer and you are trying to scan to email, and it doesn’t work, but it used to work, and you see an error message saying the printer could not connect to web services The server might be busy or temporarily unavailable, the problem is that HP has stopped supporting your printer to be able to email directly from the scanner. There isn’t a fix for this. HP has said that they have discontinued support for older HP printers. If you want to see a list of printers that you are no longer allowed to scan to email from, go to this website.

I found your video after searching for "The printer could not connect to Web Services". I looked through the comments and tried Click "Setup, " then "Web Services Setup, " then "Remove Web Services, " then set up "Web Services" again.
"Click "Setup, " then "Web Services Setup, " then "Remove Web Services, " then set up "Web Services" again" works.
Thank you for your video, and thanks to your visitors for the tip. Greatly appreciate it.

OK guys and gals, just figured it out. You have to go to printer web server, it's the ip address for your printer. Then you have to remove the web services and add it again. That worked easily for me.

Here is how to fix it: Click "Setup, " then "Web Services Setup, " then "Remove Web Services, " then set up "Web Services" again and it will work (scan to email).

It is fixable. Mess with the settings on the screen of your printer. I don’t know exactly what I did, but it let me set it up again. Last night I did firm aware update, but I’m not sure if it was the reason. This morning I started the pecking around and it finally let me set up web services and now it works fine. Good luck, don’t give up. I was ready to pack it up and head to Costco for my refund. It’s been 2-3 years since I bought it. Model Envy 5661.

Well, obviously they have to host your file on their server in order for it to email to yourself... so they decided that server space was too or something. This is a sucky thing for a company to do unilaterally.

I’ve found that I can still scan electronically by going direct from the HP Smart app. Not ideal, but better than having to buy a new printer.

I uploaded HP smart app. There is an option to scan from the app and send to email, I think this is even easier! I have an older version the HP Envy 5530.

But the model you're using, the 7645 isn't on that list. What gives?

Such trash. They have no customer support. You call in and they try to charge you $4.99 to give you a telephone number for the real customer support. It's like their entire support team got hacked by scammers.

Hp 5660. It works again after I installed the HP Smart app.

Yeah. thanks for confirming my suspicions 😡🤬

Even worse than the redundancy on this though, is the HP Software philosophy of "we know what is good for you, don't try to leave stuff out." I'm trying to set up a laserjet 200 colormfp m276n (that's what the web config banner says) aka laserjet pro 200 color mfp m276n (the badge on the front of the printer itself)... softare install gets as far as the proxy installation and then refuses to go any further unless the printer can access the Internet.

If it can't access the Internet, clearly the problem must be the proxy, right? So fix that. Then you can continue with the sofae install. Oh, you don't want web services? Tell someone who cares. We don't. Fix the problem with your proxy server or we aren't going any further. You want to skip this step? Nope. No option to do that. You can cancel the installation, is that what you want to do? OK, you're just going to have to start at the beginning again, and when you get to this step...

The document you linked says "[...] you might be able to print and scan over a wired or wireless network or USB connection"

Hmm, well, thanks for that invaluable information, but how do you scan to _any_ connection if the software won't install?

HP Smart is supposed to be the new be-all and end-all of HP printer installation (it's even the first option suggested on the support page for the printer), so I tried that but it won't even detect the printer on the network. HP Smart on my phone says "There is a problem, with your prnter" without being more specific about it. I )can_ still access the web interface from a PC and check things like toner status from the phone app, but... 🤷‍♂

No worries, mate, everyone has $350 lying around to replace a printer that still works perfectly well. Remember when HP was *_the_* name in printers - quite honestly, I have no idea why anyone buys this brand any more.
