I have struggled with overweight and obesity my whole life since adolescence. Finally in 2020 at age 50, I decided I had to face my food addiction, and switched to a whole plant food, SOS-free diet. Within a few months I attained a healthy weight and alleviated my hypertension, arthritis, and fatigue. I realized I need to maintain abstinence to keep food cravings at bay, and I'm good with that. I am glad that these drugs were not available before I began living healthfully, because I would have signed up for anything and have suffered the consequences.

Fascinating. I changed my diet in 2020 to focus on fibre and wholefoods because i read somewhere that your appetite would decrease the more fibre you ate. It worked. I've kept 20kg off and in normal weightrange for first time. since i was 9 (now 52). Also off all medications, including 20 years of psych meds. WFPB low fat has changed my life

"You don't need a $1, 000 drug to de-crap your diet." 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Semaglutide got me to my goal weight where a whole food plant-based diet could not. So now one year later weight remains off and a whole food plant-based diet and 8 hour Intermittent fasting eating window keeps me there . As someone that couldn’t even get satiated on a whole food plant-based diet to get into a calorie deficit this peptide was life-changing . Removed the “food noise” decreased cravings in general . I will say my provider before even prescribing it said we need an endgame before starting this. This is not an excuse to eat less of the unhealthy foods. I followed that and am a success story. Just wanted to share this for anybody that might benefit from my story.

I really appreciate this discussion. I’m adding more vegetables like aiming for 1-2 lbs + veggies a day. I had roux & y bypass & lost 150lbs & still losing albeit the weight loss has slowed down. But the weight-loss slowed at the 1 year mark. And I found being healthy & losing weight inevitably is up to you.

I have had to change my behavior which is not easy but the latter is 1, 000x harder. It’s much easier eating more veggies & cutting down on fattening food than having sleep apnea, having a whole host of health problems & looking & feeling miserable.

I am a big fan of you both! I love your stories, your channel. What is your thoughts on flu vaccines? Are they safe? Can you make a short video on it?

The topic of satiety is really interesting. I understand (this is anecdotal from hearing many interviews with dietitians and talking to others about my own weight loss) that some people feel more satiated from fibre and others from protein. Some even say fats can have a satiating effect. Considering that we’re moving towards more individualised nutritional advice (see for instance research on sugar spikes which varies greatly from person to person, or whether people are more or less sensitive to cholesterol), it would be fascinating to research these individual/group-based differences and variations in satiety. This could be incredibly helpful for people trying to loose weight. (On a personal note, I discovered that, for me, protein was what helped, though being whole-food plant-based, it wasn’t initially on my radar as much as fibre.)

Dr. Greger’s work is a National Treasure, deserving of funding by our National Treasury;  our highly-flawed CDC would be a karmically appropriate conduit.  SPREAD THE WORD.

Thank you Dr. G and AJ! This is very helpful. Dr. G is great, but I wish he would use a regular speaking voice instead of sounding like he is addressing a large crowd (without a microphone).

How much of your daily water intake are you getting from your fruits and veggies?

With ozempec it actually controlls the person's brain, thus not over eating. For these people to diet, is very difficult bec these people cannot controll themselves.
Yes. If in a study, yes, someone is controlling them what to eat. These medications seriously help

What he says at 16:16….THIS. Overweight people cling to a delusion that they are some sort of anomaly. As a clinician it drives me nuts that I am expected to prescribe ozempic based on the patient saying “I’ve tried everything and it doesn’t work for me.”

So you do actually need sodium. How are you getting your daily minimum intake?

So if the Ozempic type drugs cause such a dramatic reduction in appetite, why do the people plateau and stop losing weight after a while?

Why does ozempic make you so nauseous???
Any advice ???
