Grew up with this every day, still easily my favorite, souring the fresh milk first helps the butter separate in the churn faster, the left over milk is real butter milk (hated this watery stuff). You can make a descent approximation by buying good butter and real sour cream (or real plain sour yogurts), let set on counter until fully soft, then mix equal parts. You can add about 1/4 to 1/3 olive oil to it if want to make it spreadable. Note: If you took the soured milk and used it as a starter in some whole milk, that was really good and is closer to what most people know as buttermilk (except richer)

Are the cream and yoghourt from raw milk or pasturized please ?
