Behringer digital consoles (and Midas digital consoles) provide an excellent audio interface for live streaming of concerts, conferences, church services, and other events. OBS Studio (Open Broadcaster Software Studio) provides powerful (and free) streaming software that integrates with digital consoles like the XR18 (and the Midas MR18) allowing the user to mix audio on the XR18 or MR18 and send that audio via USB to OBS. And of course also integrate with the larger Behringer X32 and Midas M32 consoles.

Live performances (video and audio) can also be recorded to the computer besides being streamed. OBS can also provide video switching for projected video such as iMag.

This video steps you through the process of preparing your computer to connect the Behringer digital mixer, and the settings needed for routing your mix to OBS for your live stream. It also explains a couple of different and popular routing options depending on which mix option you plan to stream, whether a simple copy of your house mix, or a secondary and independent stream mix.

Various sound tips and tricks are outlined throughout the video for the different mix options.

Useful information for musicians, duos, solo performers, bands / praise bands, speakers / lecturers, worship leaders, churches, etc..
Use the instructions in this video for concerts, club performances, at home performances, meetings, church services, and any situation where you want to either stream, record, or both for your event.

Plugins can be added to OBS for an even wider variety of special FX and other options. The OBS website has a wealth of information for users that want to maximize the possibilities of streaming with OBS software.

Today's installment is all about connecting the XR18 to OBS for live streaming. Depending on your end goal, there's more than one way to do it and this discusses multiple methods using the Behringer and OBS without the need in additional software (or hardware... beyond your camera(s), backline (amps... drums), and normal mics and sound equipment you'd normally use for a performance).
Feel free to share the video link on social media to spread the information.
Leave me any questions or comments here.
...And I'm curious if anyone has any live stream nightmare stories after this year of heavy live stream creation and viewing. LOL.
Surely, there must be a few "Our best promoted event and I forgot to actually go live with my stream!" or "...And that's when viewers heard the sound of a toilet flushing!" stories. LOL!!

I would like this 100x if I could. The way you explained it, it all makes sense. Other tutorials I watched were aggravating. Thanks you being concise and to the point.

You can use a FX bus for the stream instead of two Aux buses, if you have an FX to spare. Use the Precision Limiter FX and disable Main LR output for it. If you have XLR inputs to spare you can also connect room mics to pick up the ambience, so it sounds less flat. Make sure to disable Main LR for those. I haven’t tested this myself but it should work, like I have it set up on the X32.
Unsure if you can send other FX to the stream FX though, like reverb...

Great video, this worked perfectly for us except for one issue. The output volume to our mains and all is great, but it is very quiet in OBS. Gain structure is setup as normal, averaging -18 and the faders are at or near unity. Any idea as to how to get more volume into OBS?

Hi Alan that’s always nice videos and you know that this one covers a lot of my situation a lot of the things that I want to do with my stream and the xr18. I am using the 4.39 driver version I guess. Because unfortunately the newest version doesn’t give WDM drivers and I need those for routing different applications to the stream but your video is an eye-opener in fact after I get over COVID-19 I will try to set the whole thing up from scratch

Great Video - very helpful. I'm having issues with getting the OBS audio synch to have any effect at all with my xr18 audio thus my video/autdio are out of synch. I've trying connecting video devices directly to my mac as well but there seems to still be a 1/2 second lag more or less. Any ideas?
