The key is not to drive your elbows back as you would in working the lats. Keep them in front to apply the tension to the biceps.

Mike Mentzer says that is the best bicep exercise. I think Mike was ahead of his time. People just weren't ready for his ideas back then. But, look at Dorian Yates? Mike was a very smart man. I got to hang out a bit with him back in 1990 in Venice. Amazing man. Sad ending, but he is a legend and will never be forgotten. God Bless you Mike.

Mike Mentzer pointed this out in the early 80s. More and more people are waking up and kicking themselves in the ass for ignoring him.

Wow! This is a Godsend! At age 62 the only bicep exercise I could do consistently was the hammer curls and it always seem to feel like I’m not getting anywhere. I will incorporate this into my routine this evening and go from there. Thanks Mike!!

I recommend this workout as well. It helps the bicep while taking strain off of the forearm and wrist when curling for biceps. I do these in high reps of 250lbs

Another effective way of working biceps with the lat-pulldown machine is to balance yourself and do "face pulls" with the same grip.
Bring the bar just over the top of your head to get the full contraction. Really effective if you only have a home gym or just want to try something different :)

I've also found that doing this after any lat workout helps keep from switching to lats while doing this. The biceps are nice and warm already, and since the lats already are screaming, you can feel it when you accidentally start engaging them too much.

I just started incorporating this into my bicep workout. Is it best to grip the handle without the thumb wrapped around the bar. So that it’s all bicep? Either way I’m gonna try it
