You forgot, to be prepared to vacuum several times a day to control the fluff around the house.

if not low furniture, get ramps. My Cardi (and old cat) use ramps to get on the couch and bed. Also, so much shedding, ppl don't realize how much shedding. I brush mine daily, still so many tumbleweeds (and vacuum 2x per week).

Intelligent. Hell yes!!! Sometimes they are too smart for their own good.

1. Teach them tricks and behavior from a young age. This includes kenneling. You'll feel bad, but in a short time frame They'll adore their kennel. It will be their safe space, and you'll often find them sleeping in it when they want to be left alone.

2. Buy/make stairs for your furniture. They'll use them (after asking to be picked up)

3. Buy a furminator!!! Use bi-weekly and brush them normally every other day.

4. Stock up on lint rollers

5. Buy a slow feeder bowl

6. Keep dog-friendly wet wipes handy. Poop sticks to floof and their nasty fishy oils will seep out.

7. Buy couch covers. You may say you won't let them on furniture. You're lying to yourself. They'll be sleeping with you in no time.

8. DO NOT ALLOW HANDOUTS. They know how to use their cuteness for a snack under the table. They're prone to obesity and will beg nonstop. Occasional healthy treats after tricks.

8. Many corgis hate pills and tablets. Whipped cream is a yummy easy low-calorie cal way to hide pills.

9. Up until the 18 month mark, you MUST keep them active and engaged. They'll be destructive if not and find things to chew on besides toys. They'll quickly simmer down around 18 months and can be left alone if needed.

I had a corgi. She was my first “adult” dog I got when I moved out of my mom’s house and got my own apartment. She was the most intelligent and loving dog I’ve ever known. She was MY dog. That dog was so special to me and even though she passed years ago I still cry every time I think about her. A few years after she died I ended up rescuing a white German shepherd and she’s also amazing and my best friend but that first one was just… she was so special. She was incredibly emotionally intelligent.
