If you could only have one bike – lightweight eMTB or full-fat eMTB – which one would you choose?

I think we have this weight thing all wrong.. perhaps all the heavy duty components are great, but it seems that stopping an extra 3-4% of weight (including the rider) is not significant

I am not interested at all in a 50+ lb full FAT ebike. I test rode a couple on a demo day this summer and while it was certainly fun at times, I did not really like the handling feel of either and I could absolutely feel the added weight when trying to carve turns and pop around. However a light weight 170mm travel 38-44lb e-bike likely would interest me as a second bike. My current Enduro sled is 34.5 lbs, so it would be a nice compromise in weight to add some pedaling help for me on days that I don't have the energy for a 3000+ ft climb, but still wanted to get out there.

Both the lightweight emtb and full fat emtb will be the death of analogue bikes for everyday social riders you can see companies pouring their R&D into assist bikes and the appeal to cram as much biking into windows of opportunity as we can in our increasing busy lifestyles .

I strongly beleive this e-crap is exceptionally for pulling customers money: bigger innitial price, more parts to maintain, some of them self-maintanance restrictions by warranty. It has all benefits for the bike companies, and the only thing it gives you as a rider is ability to be more lazy. To be more sitting on a couch than biking. Yeah, yeah, some affiliated bike-bloggers will tell me: "bro! The descents are as much intence as uphills, you will just ride more descents. More descents = more fun. bro!" Uhm.. no and no. That is just a lie. Riding normal bike, self-powered = fun. I saw some e-bikers on the local kind-of-downhill-ish spot: they always looks kind of bored. Of corse! There is no fun riding e-crap 💁‍♂️
