"Why You Should Buy a Rolex NOW"!~ Kevin O'Leary

While luxury watches dropped significantly in price, Kevin O'Leary tells you why he is still investing in brands like Rolex, Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet.

People buy Rolex watches for several reasons:
Rolex is a well-known luxury brand that has a reputation for quality and craftsmanship. Some Rolex models can appreciate in value over time.
Rolex watches are highly accurate and reliable timepieces that are designed to withstand various conditions and last for many years. Rolex offers a wide variety of styles and designs that can fit different personal preferences and occasions.

Kevin O'Leary is a Canadian businessman, investor, writer, financial commentator and television personality. He is best known for being a judge on the popular TV show "Shark Tank" and for co-founding the mutual fund company O'Shares ETFs. He is known for his outspoken and sometimes controversial views on personal finance and entrepreneurship.

Kevin O'Leary is an investor in various companies and industries. He has invested in technology, real estate, and consumer goods, among others. He is also a co-founder of O'Leary Funds, which invests in a variety of asset classes, including stocks, bonds and real estate. Additionally, he has invested in and serves as a director of several publicly traded companies. His investment style is often described as value-oriented, with a focus on growth potential and profitability.

Kevin O'Leary: I play by the government rules and I buy assets that protect me against inflation like watches, like gold, like equities and real estate.

He has shifted his focus on dividend stocks.
Dividend stocks are stocks of companies that pay regular cash dividends to their shareholders. A dividend is a portion of a company's earnings that is distributed to shareholders as a reward for holding the stock. When you own dividend stocks, you receive a regular income in the form of cash payments, which can be reinvested in the stock or used for other purposes.

Watches ARE NOT investments....

They're nice things you can enjoy and then if you DO decide to sell down the road not lose too much money on depending on which one you bought, how it was maintained, etc.

After his financial advice about FTX I’ll pass on his advice on watches.

Coming from a guy who backed FTX and still backs it after the SBF ran away with all the money and people still can't get their money back. I'm going opposite of what O'Leary says, sell, sell, sell!!! The reason why we cannot buy a Rolex is because these ADs don't want to go to the massive safe at the back of the store to bring the crateful of them out;)

The only watch advice I live by is: Never buy a watch above retail.

Especially if you buy watches as milestones and have a sentimental attachment to it. In that case you wouldn’t be interested in flipping those timepieces for money anyways

Trust me, they hold production to maximise the illusion of exclusivity!

Rolex produces watches pa in 2023 (vs 1050000 in 2022), it reduced their models from 1358 to 1221, it reduced Daytona models from 44 to 32. With all the flippers and back door sales from the AD’s guess where prices go. Good watches but a lot of marketing. In my opinion Rolex has a big problem with their AD’s, at least here in Asia the distribution is not helping the brand.

I see rolex at many stores. Yes, not as many but still can buy. On the watch tracker, rolex is down 7 to 12% when I see them on there. I sold my 7 year old Rolex during covid peek. I got what I paid for it, and I thought that was a good deal and I couldn't get any higher.

High end watches are NOT better than gold! The watch market could crash anytime but this is not the case with gold. There are no factories to ‘make’ gold because it cannot be made. Today’s Audemars Piguet on your wrist, if you want to get watch specific, may not command the same price as the next model from the same watch manufacturer down the road. This is not the case with gold as there is no specific model of gold. Watches are NOT investments. Recently during the purchase of the Rolex Deepsea 18k gold I traded in several IWC timepieces AND gold bullion that I had for years (the gold had appreciated significantly, the watches I traded had lost over 50% of their value) and the watch dealer grabbed the gold quicker than the watches I was trading. I was able to walk out with the Rolex Deepsea 18k gold largely because I had gold bullion to trade. I don’t have that kind of money to buy a 60k Rolex timepiece, but the gold made it possible

If your looking to invest in watches as a hobbyist, collector, investor and a future flipper. Look for high quality micro brands that give you the same quality as Rolex or Omega for example. Just remember it’s the consumer who determines it’s value by the products demand. Their is new watch micro brands that are killing it in quality and complications. Selling out on the Day the watch is released. I’ve heard this from other big watch collectors that this will be the new era of Micro brands turning into Mainstream brands.

Index, percentages, investing; Its unfortunate how so many people just don't get it. Life is too short to be worrying about that foolish stuff; I wear my watches (don't judge me by my silly videos, I have nice watches) and yes they are scratched to high heaven, but those are my scratches my wear and tear, my memories. Keep investing in watches if you want someone else in the future to enjoy your watches; i prefer to enjoy now.

After FTX, I learned to do the opposite of what he recommends.

The Vintage market is sky rocketing specially Rolex Sea Dwellers Double Reds 1974 Tropicals. They are very rare 50/8000 of Daytonas you just cannot find them anymore. Best short term investment

Waiting to find another video from him explaining why you shouldn’t buy a Rolex now. 😊

Try finding a watchmakers school or apprenticeship these days outside of Switzerland. That is the reason we are not getting more people taking up the profession. Between his “knowledge” of watches and crypto I really don’t know how this man isn’t broke yet.

He also said FX was great. I’ll wait for the market to bottom. Try not to buy the top.

Same reason you told everyone to buy FTX 😂

The interesting comment he made was that the younger generation won’t be able to make the watches, they also prefer an Apple Watch for $300 vs a $25k watch. So the future will be very interesting for the watch market. Yes they’ll be far fewer but the demand most likely will dwindle
