Do This Exercise To Stop Mumbling!

A lot of people struggle to speak clearly because they mumble.

Here's a simple yet effective daily practice: spend 10 minutes reading tongue twisters, but do it slowly.

Focus on exaggerating your lip, mouth, and tongue movements - yes, it'll look outrageous, but it's essential for building those articulating muscles.

I promise you by doing this, you'll start to speak with clarity and you'll mumble less.

As a teen my mom used to remind me to A-R-T-I-C-U-L-A-T-E. So whenever I catch myself being lazy as an adult i remind myself to A-R-T-I-C-U-L-A-T-E in my mind I say it slowly and clearly as if participating in a spelling bee contest. This immediately takes me out of the lazy mouthing habit.

Another tip I find to be useful is to actually think before we speak. Having the words that you are going to say be ready in your head reduces the mumbling.

You can physically work out your mouth muscles for articulation by biting down on a pencil or pen using your back teeth while reading aloud. The pencil should be above your tongue, trapping it from moving above the pencil. This restricts your mouth’s mobility, forcing you to significantly overdo your articulation when reading the tongue twister. When your mouth feels sore, take out the pencil. You will feel so FREE! And that freedom of feeling unrestrained by the pencil will make you articulate more!

This is correct.
British people suffer with this the most. We are so lazy with our mouth movements.
That’s why people who speak English as a second language find it easier to understand American or Australian directs.
I was always told if you feel like a bit of a fool, you’re doing it right 😄

"The wheel weaves as the wheel wills." I'm convinced even more now that young trainees spend their days repeating this phrase in the Wheel of Time Series.

In order to be more articulate, you have to risk being outrageous.
