Hey y'all, it's Mike Chang with sixpackshortcuts, and today I'm going to respond to a viewer's question.

avidgamer749 asks: I'm 14, am I too young to start building muscles?

Response: No, you're not. You can start working out at any age... In fact, I started working out when I was 12. But at such a young age, there are a couple of things you need to know before training.

Here's 3 tips:

(1:04) #1 - Use proper form when lifting. Proper form will give you the muscle you're looking for and keep you away from injuries.

(3:00) #2 - Make sure you are not over doing certain lifts with overly heavy weights.

**Avoid lifting heaving with exercises such as cleans and squats can compress your spine and might stunt your growth.

(4:42) #3 - Workout for 4 to 5 day max a week. This will ensure growth and also limit yourself from over training.

(4:46) #4 - If you're overweight, try eating a healthier diet the majority of the time, but if your pretty lean... just eat whatever you want. :)

Thanks for everything Mike!, You have motivated and inspired me alot. I started watching your videos in the start of 2013 and i started work out a little at home, not much but still.
and less than 2 months ago I started go to the gym. I have actually already gained 18 pounds. Thanks man you helped a 16 year old skinny boy to change his living conditions :)

I'm 14 now and started weight training last year in march when I was 13 too. I followed sixpackshortcuts and then this helped me to move on to doing my workouts myself. I was about 5 ft 6 when I was 13. Now I'm 5 ft 9 and lifting pretty heavy for my age but not over my body weight. What I had to watch out for was sleeping well, eating well and getting the form absolutely perfect.

Im 14 and I've been listening to mike Chang for about 2 Years already and TRUST me . His workouts really do work . Im a really skinny guy . But with his muscle building workouts . Im starting to see some results . Thank you mike Chang !

keep doing kick boxing, i did martial arts alot and it helped me to grow and get stronger now im working out and doing martial arts, dont stop

Hi Mike. Can you tell us a good routine when I go to the gym? I mean I workout 5 days a week. Eveyday a different group of muscles, except abs, I do them 3 times a week. So I would like to know how to start and how to end when I'm at the gym.

Thanks man. Im 14 and i have been working out since january. This is a real eyeopener for me. My form is not always good and i lift pretty heavy with schoulder presses. Like 8 reps. So im gonna change that and im going to make sure my form is good. So thanks and i see you in the next vid. ;)

Hey mike I'm 15 and the first time I saw your videos was when I was like 13 and I started at 14 with weights and man I was over weight but your after burn video really helped me and I really appreciate you makeing these videos because if you didn't I would still be the chubby kid in class you where my motivation to work out and keep doing it and I think I'll be watching you're videos for a long time thank you Mike
