I knew how much she fought! She did so well in the battle. She fought off cancer viciously and lived for many years 👏🏽 Her spirit lives on 🙏🏽

None of what was shared pertaining to specific medical care, treatment, or condition. He spoke in terms of her general well being. None of it violated laws.

This was the first thing that came to my mind when I read this story. I just think Shannen wanted this out there after her passing. She has always been open and honest about her journey, so I wouldn't be surprised if she gave consent for her doctor to do this upon her passing.

I personally think that Shannon must have asked him to share. Otherwise it doesn't make a lot of sense to me that he would. She shared so much of her struggle. Maybe she wanted to share the end as well?

One thing I love about Shannon is that she spoke up on giving people who have cancer jobs. We think they should rest and focus on healing, but work can also help be a distraction for those who have it. My younger brother helped me with some assignments and he was super diligent and very smart. I was so blessed at seeing the professional side to him and worked with him as a colleague. ❤ 😢

I am still trying to digest that she's gone. It is so weird how you can grieve someone that you have never met. We are the same age. I remember Shannen on: "Little House on the Prarie." I am glad she is no longer struggling. RIP Shannen.😢❤

I honestly do not understand how we have not found a cure for cancer?
Rest in peace Shannen 😢

Yeh it’s disturbing that he would do that! I do not agree either .. very unprofessional… some of the things they said were thoughtful and reasonable .. but what happened in the room should have been spoken about by her loved ones, not the doctor.

shannen may have given permission before she died. how she fought cancer is now her overarching legacy and she seems like a person who would choose her life be shared, even when she no longer could share it

Thanks for this idk why I couldn’t find her dr.’s statement. My heart hurts. I’ll miss following her since I’m 18. She was my favorite actress.

I think the doctor admired the strength she showed and wanted to leave this as part of her legacy that she lived life, lived it to the fullest and did everything she could to try to live. She was full of dignity and grace. I feel like it came from a place of admiration and gratitude and he just really wanted people to know her strength and resilience.

She seemed like such a hard worker. I loved her on little house on the prairie and our house.

She clearly had an incredibly rough go of it. However, someone who chooses hospice care when treatment is no longer working is also very brave. It's very difficult to come to the realization that it's time to say when (on advice of doctors, etc.) and is not to be discounted or dismissed as "giving up" or "quitting". Also, this gives the person the chance to have some time to truly accept what is happening and to have a peace about it. Fighting until the very last second, to the bitter end is the really hard way. Hospice offers a more peaceful option.

Why do we need to know the details? She narrated her battel in her own words and that is enough.

Maybe Shannon gave permission. I will miss her .
