I was begging for help in January w uterus pain and never diagnosed until April and started treatment in may. The medical system is broken. The delays are outrageous. I have decent insurance and just trying to get scans, initial appointments etc was a horrific waiting game. Its stage 4 aggressive and nobody wanted to take it seriously. The system is broken.

Me too. Doctor treated me for hemorrhoids for 6 months when I had annal cancer . Sucks.

Cancer treatment sucks. I just finished chemo and radiation myself. I have Bileduct cancer and it is apparently hard to beat. It has taken everything out of me. I hope that Shannen can beat this horrible disease.

The healthcare system in the USA is quite perplexing! In Australia, we benefit from free Breast Screening every two years, unrelated to Health Insurance. I find it puzzling why Shannon relied on her manager for health insurance instead of taking care of it herself; that seems imprudent. I've had Health Insurance since I was 17 (now 52) without any problems. Shannon shouldn't solely blame her management; she should have been monitoring her health regularly, like most people do. Early detection through self-checks could have allowed her to address her cancer sooner.

Doctors would be out of business. I think they can treat Cancer without such invasive things that takes a toll on the body and mind. This is heartbreaking.

I'm so shocked that your insurance lapsed and you had no help in restating it. Ugh.... That infuriates me to know end, I am so sorry, you should have been treated anyway, I know that it would be expensive without insurance, however your health is damn more important than money, that could have been delt with at a later date ! Remission is not a cure though I think it’s packaged that way. I also believe that women are often ignored by their doctors as what happened to my mother. You have to be your own advocate and if you’re not comfortable or have issues that are serious like cancer for example then you must find a doctor who listens and is on top of screenings, testing etc. My Mom was a lot older than Shannen and despite the cancer she did live a long life with the last few months were horrible but she had relatively little wrong with her for years. I do believe my mother’s former doctor did not stress the importance of screenings and she had failing kidneys and he had waited to refer her to a specialist. The reality is she trusted him which was my mother’s downfall. He just looked at her like she was old and annoying. If your doctor treats you like that you need to do research and get another one. Your life literally depends on it🙏🏻✌🏻

I love Shannen and I understand the frustration of missed premium payments . However, I have a hard time accepting the fact that she couldn’t afford a check up? Either way it’s all sad and our health care system is the issue ! Rest easy Shannen❤
