Shannen Doherty’s Mom Speaks Out, Doctor Says She 'WASN'T READY to Leave'

Shannen Doherty’s mother is breaking her silence on her devastating loss, calling Shannen “my beautiful girl and my heart.” According to her doctor and friend Dr. Lawrence Piro, Doherty’s fighting spirt was always there until her body just wouldn’t let her continue. He says she “wasn’t ready to leave because she loved life.”

I am in awe of what Shannen has done to bring awareness to people living with cancer. She has shown us how much can be accomplished while someone is dealing with terminal cancer. I think she will continue to be a big part of discussions of living with cancer. She used her fame in service of so many people who live with and die of cancer. Even through all the bad news, the sick days, the fear, and the tears, she still wasn’t ready to leave because she loved life. Anyone else could’ve been physically, emotionally, and mentally drained and ready to give in, and that would’ve been just fine. Not Shannen though. Nope, not the girl who was never afraid to go against the grain in the pursuit of what was right. Shannen, you were nothing if not fierce, and we weren’t ready for you to leave either 💔
