What did you already know about Booker T. Washington?

His ideas influenced Marcus Garvey, Garvey influenced the Nation of Islam. DO FOR SELF! is what the NOI said, (my father
always said this too. I think Washington's approach worked mainly for the south, and DuBois worked for the North ans both
of them could have used part of each other's ideas. Washington would have a rougher time in the south trying Dubois
approach, and as Washington once said "when you have your head in the mouth of a lion, you don't pull it's
whiskers, you pat his head".

I like in the great Booker T Washington, and Freedom Fighter Dubois, the way I look at Dr King and Malcolm X. These four individuals primarily had the same goal but they had different ways of trying to obtain it

My family loved Booker T. Washington. WE know in 2024 that he is was a Prophet. He advocated freedom, not fake or forced integration with another people.

This video greatly mischaracterizes the stance of W.E.B. DuBois and oversimplifies the reasons for his opposition to Booker Washington. DuBois actually applauded the Atlanta Compromise speech and spoke well of it. DuBois recognized the need for vocational training. What DuBois did advocate for was the black colleges have the freedom to provide both a liberal AND a vocational education to its black students. Booker Washington and his white patrons, including robber barons like Andrew Carnegie, opposed black people receiving anything beyond a modest vocational education. They agreed with Southern leaders that black people's education should only go so far as to make them a useful working class population that occupies the bottom rung of the economic and social strata in perpetuity. And during Washington's time as leader, DuBois insisted on the right of black people to vote and equal treatment before the law. Not so much integration as we understand that term today. Booker Washington not only opposed this position philosophically or implied that it was a lower priority than economic self-uplift; no, he adamantly preached to blacks and whites alike that black people did not want, did not need, nor were in fact yet fit for full civil rights and civic participation. I encourage my brothers and sisters to do a bit more research than rely on the simplistic narrative this video presents.

What kind of a father would do that to his own son, Black or white father? I tell y’all a wicked father. God bless that Black teacher and his generation to come. As for that devil advocate so call biological father is cursed and his generations to come. Here we are today listening to foolish Black men and women saying that slavery wasn’t that bad, very sick people in my opinion.
