1 mistake I will never do again: RUSHING to publish my video without first watching it myself right after rendering from my video editor. Triple checking my videos before upload allows me to spot minor mistakes and do certain improvements that produces a much better outcome :)

I can tell that having a schedule has a positive affect on my channel because people start watching my videos a day or two before the scheduled upload

The two mistakes I made were allowing the haters drive you away from making content and the other is losing the passion to create content.
Note : the journey will take some time to reach your desired dream and goals but trust me, it's worth it.

That's so true. Never assume you deserve to be seen. It's all about working hard, putting in hours and hours of work and then if you're somewhat lucky, YouTube will reward you. But that can take time. So the key is being patient and consistent and your time will come!

There's a Science to Youtube...Very important to create content people find Useful and/or Entertaining, and to do it WELL. Consistency is the Key; Great Video.

I once deleted a handful of content that I made in my first few months of YouTube 😭 but it since motivated me to post post and post!

Hello there! Just stumbled across this video in recommended tab, and oh my there are lots of relatable problems and solutions to them mentioned, served greatly as well. The topics that resonated the most with my own experience were "off-topic content", "trying to imitate" and "not allowing yourself to do mistakes", as those were all present and affected the flow the most.
Although, I do still struggle with Inconsistency. It is quite obvious that channels that upload somewhat frequently (but not too frequently, since that can be seen as spam and generally annoying, plus doesn't let each individual upload fully shine) tend to gather attention more efficiently. However, personally I cannot upload often, due to -procrastination- taking my time with video ideas: imho it's better to polish a video than to publish a bit more of them but with noticeable flaws.
What is that line (or rather a broad border), crossing which will count as inconsistency by the audience? My current take is one week, but it still seems like too much for a single video (which usually gets created in 15 work hours + gameplay time).

After we moved from our old house to a temporary house, I was suffering from relocation depression. I made more than 100+ bad decisions during this period (including* thinking to quit YouTube for a year) because our new temporary house looks really bad and has no windows make me feel demotivated. But now I might be rethinking my decisions. But I'm still a bit depressed and feel sick. But I really don't want to quit filmmaking or photography or my dreams.

It's very frustrating to say "I deserve more". This puts much stress on you when your expectations are not met...😎😁😎

The biggest mistale I made was thinking I needed to wait until I had a really good camera/microphone, until everything was "perfect" timing. It's never going to be the "perfect" time.

Sounds like i gotta stop holding back on that next great idea, that next great keyword to make a video on, and just keep constantly making videos for my audience who already appreciates what i do. Thanks for the great advice, gave me a little confidence in my progress so far and has made me realise im doing fine, and to lower my expectations of youtube while i grow. Another great video mate! :D

TBH I've stated seeing a HUGE increase after adding subtitles and translations!
LIke a world of difference! I just don't know if my audio quality is good enough!
And I don't pay for them, I caption and translate myself for free!
Maybe I should make a video about how to do that? lol

Success is in the eye of the beholder. I am thrilled to have almost 3k subs and qualified to become a YT partner in less than a year of posting my first video. Because of life I have to take breaks from YT and until I can do this full time it is healthier for my family life to just step away every few months. Great video Rob!

Enjoy the process! If you don't enjoy it, you will not continue to provide value to your viewers 😁 Thank you for all of the tips! 👍

Small tips for anyone who wants to improve audio quality but cannot afford a new microphone or even upgrading from the internal microphone:
1. If you use a laptop you likely have someone in your life nowadays that will have an extra wireless keyboard. Get this from them because if you are typing on the laptop keyboard that will come through on the internal mic.
2. Audacity. Use Audacity. This allows you to get rid of the background noise that happens in all internal mics. Just make sure to leave a couple seconds at the beginning of the recording to be able to grab a background noise sample. There are tutorials on this. If you are scared of viruses you can grab the portable version.
3. Audacity also helps with bad mics that are still better than internal mics. However, improving audio gets a lot more in depth with the tools and could be risky. You will need to practice and watch a lot more in depth tutorials.
