Watching this video made me reflect on how our society often prioritizes productivity over well-being. We need to start valuing rest and taking care of ourselves more.

It's interesting to think about how our perception of time affects our productivity. When we're in a flow state, time seems to fly by, but when we're bored, time seems to drag on forever.

The 5 Tips I've found that have always worked for me.
1. Less is more: an 8 to 16 second short will do more for your youtube channel than the greatest long form content ever could (particularly live stream content)
2. If you're inside the United States post when the whole country is awake.
3. If you're outside the United States post when it's daytime over there.
4. Get into the habit of checking your stats, improving, experimenting and posting frequently.
5. Don't quit your day job.

When you are a small channel, you don't have an audience yet, so you should post at anytime, it doesn't matter, YouTube is on 24/7, 365 days, there's always somebody watching, even at 3 am. I post Shorts at anytime, and it works wonders for me I got 500, 000 views in 3 months, prior to that 1000 views for a whole year. Just because you have a community tab, don't assume that you have a community 😅

In my experience the time of publish doesn’t really matter. In the long run, it will always perform if the videos is good. Plus, when it’s night for you, it’s day for others!

I agree with this. I started using OBS to film my videos now which allows me to edit while I film them. Absolute game changer for making YouTube fun and not having to sink hours into editing while still getting high production quality.

Starting a channel takes hard work, time and commitment. Helpful advice, find a niche and stick to it!

Yes that use to happen to us when we did vlogs no one cares about vlogs when you barely have any subs. We switched niches and now have a dedicated community we are so grateful and are monetized earlier this month. Definitely was hard work but we made it through good luck yall 💪🏼💪🏼 Great tips so glade you guys are here to help everyone especially small channels

I've found that taking breaks and doing activities that have nothing to do with work actually helps me be more productive in the long run. Sometimes we need to step away from our work to gain a new perspective.

“Posting consistently is far more important than posting specifically” you guys put out some great insight and tools! What about mentioning other channels in your titles with the @ option YouTube gives you? I do commentary on Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson etc, and I wonder what effect mentioning those channels has.

I think I definitely fell into the trap of too much producing and editing. To be honest, I think I'm spending less time on researching and more time on editing (and I'm doing heavily research-based videos! The more I research, the better the video!)

The thumbnail for this video is the most relatable thing when it comes to my efforts with YouTube. I make video essays and documentaries about racing video games, and these videos take me anywhere from two weeks for a short essay up to three months for a super thorough hour-long documentary. I go through all this effort, and if I'm lucky, 6 to 12K will see it. However, I often receive way below 1K views. I'm of course appreciative of the views I get, but it's really frustrating when I see channels with 100K subs posting low-effort one-minute clips getting 60K views or more. Finding an audience on YouTube is sooo hard, especially when covering niche topics, but I know if I stick with it, eventually, something will come out of it. 🤞

The idea that we can "hack" our brains to be more productive is both fascinating and concerning. Should we really be pushing ourselves to the limit all the time?

The beginning of this video really hit me, as I've just experienced this with my latest video. I spent all day and night, plus some of the next morning doing the video. It was also the first video with my new "proper" condenser mic. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the best out of it though. This was part of the reason why I took so long on the video. The audio wasn't where I wanted in the end, but I just had to get the video out, as it was a time specific one for a Kickstarter watch that was launches the next day and I did not have time to redo it. Other than that though, I was pretty with the video and particularly the thumbnail, as I felt it was something a bit different and looked pretty interesting too. So, I was expecting it to perform quite well, despite being somewhat niche. However the video ended up being a 10 of 10. I tried to change the thumbnail a couple of times, as well as tweaking the title too, but nothing helped. It stayed as a 10 of 10 unfortunately.

In contrast, a video I did a few before that one that I did on my break in work, using only my laptop and the built in mic on that ended up doing far better than I expected.... So, I guess the moral of the story is to allocate your time based upon how interesting the video will be to your audience and not how good you think it is. It also goes to show that you don't need all the equipment if the video is interesting enough, people will watch it.

First time I'm commenting on your channel and wanted to say: Thank you for all your helpful insights. I've been watching a lot of them and they really helped. So funny you're posting this video today. I spent the last few days thinking about my content and that I need to simplify everything. And I will do exactly that. Thanks again! 🙏

Maybe I missed it in the video but when you said about titles and video descriptions and not worrying too much about keywords, etc. How does the algorithm know who to put your video in front of if key words are not mentioned in the title/description? Looking back at a number of videos I've published over the past couple of years it is always the case that more than double the amount of views I get come from Browser Features than from Search. My latest video which I decided to make epic to try and get more attention to my channel took me 5 1/2 months to make and compared to the few hundred to a few thousand views I have been getting on videos over the past few years this one took off and is currently at 379k views after being online 3 1/2 weeks and has grown my channel from 4.1k (which took me 4 years) to 6.6k subs in that same time. 1.7% of views are from search, 42.9% from suggested video and 52.8% from browser features. There is no talking in this video, so without the title and description how does the algorithm know who to put the video in front of to start with? I imagine that after it starts to get views the algorithm would be looking for similarities in the viewers watch history to decide who else to put it in front of but initially? And yes I know I way overthink things hahaha
