This time I take a look at the tools and best practices for onboarding new employees into Microsoft 365. From creating user templates, licensing, security. Including deploying users with a temporary access pass, configuring password less authentication, conditional access and to polish things off, access reviews. This is a busy session that will provide you with the skills to not only onboard new starts, but also ensure that they are secure.

OMG. that Temp access pass is so usefull. you can use it to deploy a new device without the users password or MFA. you just put in the TAP code and it will deploy and (if configured) directly make a new PIN. very very usefull for me.

A quick note Andy, please use Entra going forward in your videos. It is much more cleaner than the classic Azure AD Portal.

A useful follow-up to this would be around the various automation technologies that can be used for various aspects of the onboarding process. For example, can Power Automate be used to create users? Maybe have the user select from a list (e.g. Microsoft Form) of groups they'd like to join > approval to group owner > assignment to group. I think some of the administrative deployment tools also have automation capabilities.

If we still operate in a hybrid environment with HAADJ computers, would we still create accounts on our local domain controllers first? Doesn’t look like the TAP would work unless we also had browser based cloud apps. Our AAD presence is mostly used for O365 features like Teams at the moment.

Thanks Andy. What's the idea behind generating a TAP and sending it to the hiring manager in the pre-hire phase if the account is created in a disabled state ? My understanding is that TAPs are used for setting up strong AUTH.

Thanks, can I ask 1 Q: MFA per user (Legacy) versus Authentication Method, I come across users with this disabled in MFA per user but MFA is triggered on login, Authentication Method has a record; I assumed the two of these are one in the same just two different menus illustrating if MFA is enabled for the User ; what am I missing? vice versa I can enable MFA per user but no record is illustrated in Authentication Method User section but as expected MFA is triggered on login, what is the difference ?
