"I feel like I can't truly separate work and play in a desktop environment anymore" - This! At times this bothers me like I lost a huge part of my identity that's why I'm trying to save for a steam deck and see it from there.

I wake up at 6:30am, drive my daughter to school, go to the gym, go to work. I get home at 8:30pm. The SD keeps me sane through the hard times

38yo married with a kid here . Run a small business, part time Uber driver and all the daily family chores made my inner gamer struggle, many times I sit in front of my laptop at night but I just felt tired....

But recently pull the trigger, bought the OLED SD used, never been happy to get back into gaming thru all the little free-time gaps in between. The instant sleep and wake really is a godsent, I always hate all the the wasted time to boot up PC and games.

0:06 Aging is so underrated. I just hit 40 and my life is amazing. I have money now. I'm still fit. I'm no longer a walking, talking erection like when I was younger.

Young guys don't let older people tell you life is a downhill slide (I think this dude's joking but I know a lot of younger men believe this, I know I did).

The steam deck is my only game system at this point. I put all of my other systems in the closet and haven’t touched them in nine months. I simply don’t have a lot of time for gaming anymore and the steam deck allows me to game on the off chance that I have the time. The funny thing is that I tether it to my TV almost all the time.

A family member is having a fever right now and my Steam Deck was my buddy through the night taking care of the sick.

My new steam deck finally gets delivered today. I had the OG launch version a few years ago but had to sell it because of financial issues, but now I finally am stable enough to have gotten another one.

I feel like picking up a video game and sitting down to play has felt so committal and it's kept me from playing videogames. My steam deck has got me into playing games again since I can just pick it up whenever, launch a game and play for a bit. Now I find myself actually completing games by playing them bit by bit. Also being able to play all the games I loved when growing up in a handheld feels like such a childhood dream come true

I also had totally lost my motivation to play with my PC or with a console, but handheld consoles are so nice. Steam Deck is so nice and actually enjoy playing older games from my Steam library like Dirt 3, Max payne 3, Binding of Isaac etc. I just can't enjoy FPS games that much, feels like trying to write with my left hand. Aiming with mouse is just so more superior and enjoyable.

Make more Steam Deck videos. Always keen to see what folks are playing. Your B roll is on point too.

There is something psychological about booting up a game and waiting through 5mins of animations and menus. its like a reminder that you are about to waste your time on a pointless videogame. having auto-resume on the SD has allowed me to finish a few games by picking it up when i have free time and chipping away at a game instantly.

As a "Windows" PC user for as far back as I can remember, I knew straight away I would NEVER like a handheld PC running Windows. Just seeing previews/reviews of the Ally, Go, etc., and seeing all those updates gave me nightmares(been there, done that). I finally got my SD OLED a few months back as a B-Day gift for myself, and it is truly the handheld device I've dreamed of since back in the 80's. I've always leaned more in to handhelds, as I've always loved the ease of use and the play "anywhere" nature of those devices.

I already knew how big it was, and while I thought that might have been an issue, I was more surprised on how heavy it was. Now I don't even notice unless I'm going from a 3DS or Vita, but those now just seem extra light, instead of the Deck feeling that heavy. I set all of the games to 40FPS and on that screen, they all look great and run amazing well, and that is just fine for me(I was shocked how well many AAA games look & run). I honestly can't see ever using any other handheld going forward, unless it is in the deck family, as this device is just so well thought out and then some.

The instant sleep is what makes it for me. 5 seconds and I am back in the game. Great gaming device for a busy dad. Can play a bit after kids asleep or in the morning before everyone gets up.

I really related to this video. I’m approaching 40 and have always been more of a casual gamer. As I’ve been getting older, my priorities have changed. I’m finding it less enjoyable to play competitive games while being tethered to a PC or console. I want to be able to have the freedom to pickup a game and play it wherever I am and put it down without it feeling like such a chore.

Having a Steam Deck helped me separate my work on PC from gaming, and even then it helped be invested in my PC again for gaming, because as soon as I got on my PC for gaming I would lose interest because I am already sitting almost all day in there working, but now when I wanna game I can just pick the deck and game for a bit while laying on bed before sleeping, but as I limited also my library on my PC for more intensive games and with higher disk space required I feel invested again in those too as those are "the games the deck can't run" for me

Online multiplayer gaming is dying, Activision and EA are killing it.

The Steam Deck has literally opened my eyes to older games I would’ve never touched on my desktop.

I picked up the SD OLED after my PC crapped out and man does it take away the chore of dealing with Windows and puts you straight into Gaming.

Reignited my Love for Gaming as I must've completed 40+ Game's of my Back catalogue in the last year.

As you get older you just want a all-in-one solution pretty much in any product you own I would say, a console like experience where it JUST WORKS in a heart bit, i myself cannot imagine using a PC anymore, drivers, cables, screws, settings... man, the energy I used to put on this seems unreal now, I own a MacBook Pro + PS5 and considering a steam deck for PC games, i just want to play, simple as that.

Great perspective, thank you.
