How long does it take to make an art tutorial video?

Ideas are the most unpredictable part of the process. Some mornings I wake up with 20 and others my brain is emptier than that carton of milk you finished but for some reason put back in the refrigerator.

The other part that's super variable is refining the idea. Sometimes the idea is just too big to teach in short form videos, or sometimes the first few times it just looks weird and so I have to try a bunch of times. The refinement doesn't always happen the same day. Sometimes I try something in my sketchbook and it doesn't work, but a week later I will flip through it and think... "oh wait! What if I did x?!"

The filming and editing process is also dependent on how many times I stumble on my words. Some days, it takes me 4 tries to say each sentence without goofing it up. Those are the days that when I am editing I get real sick of hearing my own voice.

Another thing that can take more time is if I need to edit the video to different lengths for different platforms. I don't often do this anymore because it just takes so much extra time, but sometimes I feel it's necessary.

Does anyone else love walking while they work? I don't know why but it helps me so much! I used to be able to do about 15 minutes of computer work before my brain would get distracted, but when I walk I can easily power through an hour of computer stuff!

Also, the watermelon was delicious. Super juicy, cronchy, and sweet. 10/10.

Why yes, I have wondered this!
Especially after I slightly naively filmed myself making a custom journal and the amount of footage I had was about 5 hours' worth and the setting up of different camera angles had taken another 5 hours. I ran out of energy to even edit it all into a video, so now I have some really cute memories of a really cute journal I made that probably isn't going to see the light of day. 🤣
