I did a 100 day water fast last year. The benefits were astounding! Never did I ever think I could go 100 days without food. The mental aspect of the accomplishment alone is huge

I’ve been doing extended water fasting (10 to 20 days three or four times per year) for the last three year. I’m 70 years old. Beyond weight loss, what I have experienced is a huge increase in my cognitive ability while fasting. Maybe it’s the ketones affecting my brain? It always feels like my brain is on hyper drive after about four days into the fast. Very enjoyable!

I always watch your videos and appreciated all of the great information you share. Much appreciated!

Today is day 4 of my 5 day fast. I fast 5 days every month. I have shoulder and hip pain on occasion. It pretty much goes away on day 3. One thing people who are new to fasting should not do is to rely on the scale too much. Much of the weight you lose is due to emptying of your bowels and perhaps water loss (it is tough to drink as much while fasting). For example, as I said, it is day 4 and I have gone from 205.8 to 191.4 but in reality I may have lost 4 real pounds. If your body is accustomed to burning fat, for men you may lose a pound of fat a day. I believe it is a little less for women so my body has only consumed 4 pounds of fat, not almost 15. But if you ever look at what 4 pounds of fat looks like, it is still amazing. Concern yourself with how you look rather than your actual weight. As I said, as soon as one starts eating much of that weight will return as food is being processed. The best thing one can do is to come to value the results of how you feel during a fast enough to make it part of your routine. Chances are good that it will also give you an appreciation of better food. If I am somewhere and they have crappy food, I just don't eat. I know now I can go a long time without eating. Oh yeah, I did lose over 70 pounds. The first long fast I did was 38 days. I took a picture of myself before and after. To be honest I was underwhelmed by the result but it also gave me the confidence and knowledge that I could do shorter fasts. When my wife was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical and was on chemotherapy on a 3 week schedule. I fasted with her two days before, the day of and the day after her treatment. Her chemotherapy lasted nearly 3 years and I have no doubt that fasting minimized her side effects and gave her a much better quality of life while she went through it. I wish with all my heart that I could say it cured her but it did not. However, we were doing hot yoga together just a few months before she died. I think she had 10 different rounds of chemo and lost her hair on 3 different occasions I believe. She was however extremely active and able to live a nearly normal lifestyle during most of that time.

I have been bed bound since September 2022, chronic fatigue that has been gaslit by my doctor.
I am on day 8 of fasting. I walked a half a mile yesterday, 8/27/23, and this morning, 8/28/23.
I feel I am in a miracle. I want to challenge myself to go 30 days. I do not know if my doc will support me.
I’m 70, 5’6”-212 lbs
Ct scan shows mild fatty liver
A1c. 5.6
High cholesterol- I refuse to take a statin
Managed HBP (300mg of irbesartan, daily)
Hashimotos (compounding pharmaceutical thyroid t3t4 formulation)
CPAP sleep apnea
Panic disorder
Depression, since the pandemic I have hated living, if I did not have adult children I would have ended my life.
TODAY I FEEL GRATITUDE AND JOYFUL. The human body is a magnificent universe

I`m intermittent fasting 16/8 for 2 years now. Will also try to add a 1-2 sessions/year of 2weeks full-fasting.
On top of that, I`m only showering with cold water for the past 7years. What a combo !

I am currently on day 14 of a 16 day fast. In three weeks I will begin a 21 to 30 day fast. It seems to be only thing that has helped my gut pain and help with other health problems.

If long term fasting has these great benefits, wouldn't it make sense to make eating once every 72hrs a permanent regimen, in order to maintain these benefits?

Just started my long term water only fast, currently on day 4th, I'm planing to go as far as 21days if everything is fine. Not gonna lie, never felt so bad compare to my previous fasting experiences. I have to ad that I do intermittent fasting every day for 2yrs now (6:18 method) that's an easy thing to do.On this prolong fast I'm doing now, I've experienced all flu symptoms i could(it's common) back pain, migraine, been cold all the time, incredible weakness on day 2nd and 3rd, could barely walk my daughter to school.I've been drinking water with salt to avoid migraine but didn't help, I'm tough though, i will not stop! This will pass soon and I know I'll regain my strength again toward my goal. Can't wait.I don't have any health issues and not overweight, I just like to challenge myself. Good luck to everyone who's on it!

I began intermittent fasting about 18 months ago. I eat from 9AM to about 1PM and choose healthy fats (avacado, nuts) and some eggs and veggies. I weighed 195 pounds when I began and my blood pressure was usually about 145/95. After two months I was at 170 pounds and blood pressure was coming down. I was surprised how quickly my body adapted to the new eating schedule; I never get hungrey during the day/evening. I leveled off at 155-160 pounds and blood pressure usually 120/80. In short, intermittant fasting worked excellent. I will begin periodic longer-term fasting soon.
