How to do a 3 Point Turn Manoeuvre | Driving Tutorial | Updated 2023

While no longer a manoeuvre on the UK Driving Test, the '3 Point Turn' or 'Turn In The Road' manoeuvre is still a very valuable skill to learn and most Driving Instructors will teach you how to do a 3 Point Turn on your Driving Lessons.

The objective of a 3 Point Turn is to safely and efficiently turn your car to face the opposite direction on a road where it is not possible to do a U-Turn, if the road is narrow, this may become a 5 or even 7 Point Turn. If you are doing the 3 Point Turn driving a Manual car, you will only use 1st and Reverse gears.

Remember, Road Camber is the slight convex curve of the road so water flows towards the curb and is drained rather than building up into a pool in the road.

Really wish this was still on the test, I passed last week, not having a clue how to do this and today found out, after being yelled at by a man in a car park for taking to long to try turn around and park (it was a super narrow carpark yout had to turn fully round in just to park) that not knowing this makes things way harder, as I was not ever taught this, thank you for this, hopefully it helps me out when I find myself needing to turn around in the next narrow space I am in.

3 point turn is still used in northern ireland driving tests and its probably my worst manoeuvre and ive no idea why. Give me reverse around the corner or parallel parking and im fine 😂

Is it wrong to put handbrake up once you reach end, then put in reverse, and then full
Lock again and then when you come to stop you put hand brake up again and do final turn? So adding the handbrake to it is that wrong?

Can't do a three point turn because of pedestrians? C'mon pedestrians have a duty of care to keep off the road until traffic has passed.

Hi sorry but it is Not a 3 point turn. It is a turn between the curbs using forward and reverse gears. Can be done in 3 5 or more. Examiners words are. I would like you to turn the vehicle around to face the opposite direction using your forward and reverse gears.
