Listen I know some of y'all will say that red velvet cake is overhyped and...... it kinda is. You thought I was gonna say otherwise no it's yummy but best HMMMM??? #redvelvet #baking
as always El Cooks I will leave the recipe in here. wether you decide to make a 6 inch cake or a 9 inch cake this recipe covers both those situations.

In the video im making a 6 inch but if you want it in a 9 inch just DOUBLE the recipe for both BATTER and FROSTING.

here is the recipe so you aren't wandering looking for it.

HEAT-350F Time- 17-19Min (for 6" cakes) 24-30 (for 9" cakes)
ALWAYS CHECK WITH THE TOOTHPICK TO ENSURE BEST BAKE.

Recipe for 6 inch cakes-
1/2C Whole milk
2teaspoon vinegar
1 1/4C AP flour
1/4teaspoon salt
1/2teaspoon baking soda
1Tablespoon cocoa powder
1/4C softened butter
1/2C Sugar
3oz oil of choice (I use avocado oil)
1 large egg
1teaspoon vanilla extract
1Tablespoon red food dye

recipe for 9 inch cakes-
1C whole milk
4teaspoon vinegar
2 1/2C AP flour
1/2teaspoon salt
1teaspoon baking soda
2Tablespoon cocoa powder
1/2C softened butter
1C sugar
6oz oil of choice
2 large eggs
2teaspoon vanilla extract
2Tablespoon red food dye

Frosting for 9 inch cake OR (divide all these by 1/2 for 6" cakes)
8oz cream cheese softened
8tablespoons butter softened
2C powdered sugar
4Tablespoons heavy cream
2teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2teaspoon salt

Fun fact about the red: Without the red food coloring, red velvet cake can be (and used to only be) naturally red. Some pigments in the cocoa are dark or purple in alkali mixtures (think of Dutch cocoa and Oreos) and more red in acidic mixtures (like natural cocoa and red velvet). The acid can come from ingredients such as vinegar, lemon, and sour buttermilk.

You're correct in that red velvet cake does have its own flavor. It's not a chocolate cake flavor or like a yellow cake flavor even though it is it's own type of chocolate cake. I think this because of the vinegar used to create the buttermilk gives it is unique flavor. And the vinegar also helps keep the red color stay the beautiful shade of red.
My son has a delicous recipe for a red velvet cake that he will sometimes switch up the color. Like he's done a orange color for Halloween or for the fall season, green for St. Patrick's day and a deep blue just because he wanted it blue. It still tastes like a red velvet cake except the color just isn't at times red. A good red velvet is one of my favorite cakes.

I worked in a cupcake shop and I could not tell you how many people came in and would order the red velvet because they were "allergic to chocolate". We stopped trying to gently correct people because they always ordered it anyway 🙄

As a baker I was seriously ready to crank on anything he did wrong. But he amazingly nailed every last little thing. Well done! Looks delicious!
Interesting fact hough, the original red velvet was made with beet juice!. If you like making old fashioned/original recipes, look one up with beet juice. Adds a mildly earthy flavor and deeper red color. 😉😘

1:24 highly recommend getting the paddle attachment with the silicone extension, it scrapes the bowl as it mixes and reduces the unnecessary downtime and babysitting a lot
