Same thing when people started complaining that larger clothing was priced higher…. Because they used more material for bigger people

No one wins in a car accident. Except the insurance companies .

Once the FDA properly regulates its food, and doesn’t allow poison in the food chain… This can be talked about

I have to agree women use more healthcare so should pay higher health insurance.

Where I live, you could be at a red light, stopped, get hit by a drunk driver, and still have YOUR insurance raised because you were following the rules. Insurance companies are sketchy at best.

Only the ones who complain should have to pay more. If they complain about the seats, being too small, the isles being too small or the combo meal being too small, they should have to pay more.

If you’re unlucky enough to be a baby, born with some rare disease, is that the baby's fault too ? Insurance is meant to cover everyone. It's the whole purpose of insurance. Otherwise, it's just a savings account

I think most of the obesity epidemic would disappear if we tackled childhood obesity. For example arrest the parents of obese children.

Once you develop an eating disorder you have that eating disorder for the rest of your life. So if a kid grows up obese, it's kinda scummy to blame them for the neglect and abuse they grew up with.

If you stamp out childhood obesity, then we can talk about holding the individuals accountable, for what they do as adults. Just don't abuse and neglect a child and then blame them for not acting like a well brought up adult.

If you play football, hockey or like to do extreme skiing or mountain climbing you should pay more health insurance. If you drive a car you should pay more health insurance. If you ride bicycles in the state of Florida you should pay more health insurance. If you live in a state that has crazy gun laws you should pay more health insurance. If you eat at McDonald’s you should pay more health insurance. If you buy tv dinners you should pay more health insurance. Where do you draw the line? Where?

Weight should be directly related to what you pay for health and life insurance.

I see your point, but I can also see how it will be abused. For example the military body mass index that would most likely be applied to that has been inaccurate since it began. It takes your height and your weight but it does not account for muscle mass. So if you were 6 ft 250 lb and had a 15% body fat you would be simply be considered fat, without taking your muscle into account. That would be a pretty flimsy basis for denying medical services.

It used to be that people with higher risks paid more for health insurance.

I can send you sound research proving that obesity, a lot of, not all of course can be predicted by gut flora from birth to 5 years old, proving that a lot of obesity starts at birth. I would suggest you really look at how many thin people eat like crap, period.
People who smoke, drink alcohol or do recreational drugs should absolutely pay more..But until you understand obesity, how many obese people are survivors of sexual abuse and trauma...stop patting yourself on the back for not feeling fat...judging obesity.

No one ever wants to discuss antidepressants causing weight gain. I haven't met one morbidly obese person who isn't taking antidepressants. The weight accumulates like compound interest, more on top of more each year.

Detoxing off antidepressants is often worse than opiods, many people can't stop. Never discussed

I understand that people feel people who eat unhealthy should pay more in health insurance but this is America and we shouldn't be told how to live. Remember, if you drink alcohol that would be unhealthy. Including glasses of wine. Eating a hamburger would be unhealthy. Eating toast with butter on it would be unhealthy. Putting a salt on food would be unhealthy. Get the picture.

Being overweight is the number 1 cost component of healthcare, and it's not close. And it's COMPLETELY in one's control.
