The most ridiculous part about this debate is that there is an actual doctor present who isn't being taken seriously.

Obesity isn't an insult its literally a medical diagnosis, to say that offends you is wildly self absorbed. Thats like me challenging the diagnosis of depression, as if it was solely invented just to insult and offend me. If you're offended by the doctors diagnosis, you should be just as offended to look yourself in the mirror. Stop playing the victim and work on bettering yourself. Denial isn't gonna help you lose any weight, or feel any better when you next go for a check up.

I'm a bigger guy. Eating better (not necessarily less) and hitting the gym has led me to lose 9kg in the space of 4 months

“Have you done any research, piers?”
“Yes! I’ve found videos of her munching on cake with her bare hands!”
“It’s not about that!!”

I love how we now live in an age where simple facts are becoming controversial because a group of people dont want to have to agree with it

Addicts have the tendency to defend their addictions

They won’t hesitate going great lengths to make the opponent feel inferior

The reason so many people are obese is because they focus on the short term instant gratification that food gives rather than facing reality which is time itself on what you do on a daily basis effects who you are as a person living the one life you have

As piers Morgan once’s said

Eat less exercise more

I have to agree with Piers on this though, I personally do work out and do not find myself attracted to fatty and sugary foods.

Peirs is absolutely right here!
I am also slightly obese for my height and weight and i dread to lose weight not because i want to look good alone but because i don't want to catch complications later. Eat less and move more should be the way. And these plus size models can sometimes give away toxic body positivity which is harmful.

The big problem is when addicts defend their addiction.

i'm overweight, in fact fat, to the tune of 2 stones, i accept that i am fat, but more importantly understand that its not good for me or something to aspire to, but erasing the word cant erase the situation

Having a health warning on the cover of every fashion or model magazine for a plus size and underweight people isn't actually a bad idea. They do the same with smoking, they do the same with alcohol. Why not target every health violating idea. KFC already has the nickname kids fattening centre.

I remember when I was overweight and I would eat a lot of crap. I used to tell my mom, "I'm so fat." I expected her to say, "You're beautiful just the way you are." Instead, she told me to lose weight and start eating healthy. At first, I used to get mad at her because of her honesty. However, beginning of 2023, I looked at my body and said, "You know what, I'm going to start eating better and working out more." I lost about 19 pounds, feel confident and happy, motivated, and active. I'm feeling much better than before. Being overweight and eating crap was horrible and it affected my life. Even when sometimes I don't workout because I'm lazy or going out, I feel guilty.

I'm currently 19, around the age of 5 I was diagnosed with a probably lifetime-illness, which caused me to rapidly gain weight. I had to take medicine every day and visit the doctor every third month.
Then all of a sudden, it disappeared, i could stop taking medications, but I was left with 100kg at the age of 15-16.
The fattest I was was 103kg actually. I know it's crazy.
Now I am 87-88, in the past month I dropped 4-5 kgs, doing nothing but eating less meanwhile working more. Not gym or anything, but I work in a bakery with my dad and for three weeks I could work more, often 15-17 hours shifts. I had only breakfast and lunch in the late afternoon, that was it.
The backpain I occasionally had disappeared as I lost weight, and I am way more comfortable than before.
Personally I dont think there's a huge problem with being a BIT overweight, but being extremely overweight and claiming that this is normal, I'd say this is a mental issue now.

I've been fat and unhealthy and now I'm slim and healthy - I know which one is best and it certainly isn't the former. Although when I was fat I saw nothing wrong with it, I look back now and wonder what the hell I was doing! If you have confidence and are content with been obese and overweight, great... but don't blinker yourself to the dangers it carries.
