Insomnia is basically when we have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. There is acute insomnia, which lasts for between two weeks and three months. Chronic insomnia is when symptoms persist for over three months.

Obviously, #insomnia sufferers will have trouble sleeping. They may also find it difficult to stay focused the next day and could be irritable or moody as well.

Insomnia could be a genetic condition or it could be caused by stress, changing work schedules, and other health conditions.

Insomnia has its causes, but it can also cause some real health problems. It could lead to high cholesterol, diabetes, or even Alzheimer’s. People with insomnia also have a greater chance of dealing with depression or #anxiety.

So, what about insomnia treatment? What can we do to solve this issue? Well, some doctors might prescribe Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, where a therapist will help us change our unhealthy thoughts and habits regarding sleep. They might also prescribe some sort of sleep medication.

However, there are lots of things we can ourselves do to prevent and get rid of insomnia. Basically, we need to practice good sleep hygiene. Sleep in a cool, dark, and quiet bedroom. Keep technology out of the bedroom, and limit the intake of coffee and alcohol.

Ugh, I'm dealing with it too 😭 I have major trouble staying asleep every single night for years now. It's from chronic pain. I do break all the rules though... Phone, coffee, tv, spicy food, etc... So I will definitely try to do better to see it will help. Thank you for reminding me of what I already knew, but needed a reminder!!

I’ m pretty sure i have acute insomnia but its getting a lot better since i started taking CBD oils and using a white noise machine. Thanks for this video, very helpful and informative.👍

Ha! I loved the part where you hit your head on the desk and made the funny face at the camera with both nostrils stuffed with tissue 😅haha!! Halairious! But yes, you're so right about the lack of sleep and traffic accidents. I've had two friends wreck after falling asleep at the wheel. Super scary to be driving and feeling your eyes getting heavy😮. ! I have bad habits late at night and it keeps me up..such as technology in my bed and spicy chips/food before trying to sleep (like you pointed out)..I need to set a time each night to stop and start mellowing my mind so I can get better sleep.

6:40, the basis of that is because of the blue light that your phone emits correct? And if so, how effective is the night shift feature on phones? I tried testing it out multiple times and the only affect i've experienced is less strain on the eyes, not exactly a better sleep. But, granted the feature does state that it MIGHT help, not guarantee a better sleep. I've always been curious to see how it works with others! ☺️

I have chronic insomnia. I see doctors for it and for the health complications exaggerating it.. I'll just leave it at that.

I have a tendency to wake up throughout the night but I can usually go back to sleep relatively quickly so I don't think it qualifies as insomnia. Also, I do tend to wake up really early, like 5am, but I think that is due to aging, not insomnia - LOL!

Excellent info about insomnia and the many causes. I don't drink alcohol or coffee, but I love my Diet Coke! i try not to drink it late in the day.

I definitely have problems sleeping. I keep waking up and then have a hard time getting back to sleep. I'm miserable cause of it but sadly alot has to do with how aweful my mattress is
