When Sting tells you to get a lens. You get that lens.

5:16 that's why I like cameras with tilting LCD screens along with the dual pixel AF

I find 70-200 or more very useful hiking in Norway. There are some gorgeous waterfalls and glaciers you can't get close without dying. Telephoto in this case is literally a lifesaver. Also girls dressed as maids in Akihabara, Tokyo are really camera shy. For stalking 300mm is a must.

Thing to consider to change to telephoto lens is the shutter speed and the ISO. You need faster shutter to counter back your focal length to not produce any camera shake blur. And of course you need to bump up the ISO higher and introduce more digital noise unless if you're using full frame sensor camera.

When I shot Canon, I had the 100-400mm L Mark-2 lens but seldom used it because of its size and weight. When I transferred my allegiance to Sony, I opted not to buy the Sony 100-400mm and have not purchased the Sigma 100-400mm for Sony because of the form factor of those two lenses.

I also own the Sony 85mm f/1.8 which is great for portraits and the Sony 70-200mm f/4G which is not exactly a cripple either when it comes to portraiture. However, my plans are to switch the 70-200mm f/4 for a Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8... It seems to me that the 70-180mm would be an excellent portrait glass on either a full frame or crop camera.

Great review, seems like a good lens, still not sure if I’d add it to my gear tho 🤔

I use a 70-200mm 2.8 for dance photography, portrait (yes, the 85mm 1.4 is better I know) recitals and martial arts (aikido). It is also widely used by wedding photographers
